De Bruyne found himself in hot water during the first half of Man City’s Champions League group stage clash with the French giants when he overstretched trying to challenge for the ball and landed studs first on the shin of Idrissa Gana Gueye.

The Belgian did initially get a toe to the ball but replays showed his follow through was incredibly dangerous and left Gueye writing around in agony.

Surprisingly, despite a considerable stoppage and VAR in use, De Bruyne escaped with a yellow card. Many felt it was the wrong call and referenced the double standards in UEFA officiating.

A couple of weeks back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off for Manchester United against Young Boys for a similar challenge in the 2-1 defeat

Gueye, quite possibly the best player on the pitch in the opening 45 minutes, was down for a fair amount of time and looked like he might not be able to continue, with Gini Wijnaldum warming up.

However, he was able to shake off the knock after receiving treatment.

  1. We really need to talk about the inconsistencies in refereeing which is killing the game. I don’t see why KDB should have remained on the field after VAR looked at that horror tackle. As a manutd fan who witnessed AWB rightfully getting sent off for something similar just two weeks ago, my blood is boiling at this point.

  2. looking at the axis of the challenging foot, KDB's lunge is more dangerous as it could hv injured the ankle AND the lower leg.. AWB 's challenge was on the foot and ankle.. had there been a fracture on either of the challenge, Gueye's would hv taken longer to heal..

  3. i see all racism and power of money …..either both should have been given yellow or both should deserve red now AWB gets 2 match ban saying rough play KVD did soft play?? both tackles are similar frame by frame there was not a single check by VAR on AWB tackle it was straight red

  4. Suchna stupid video!!! Why only show him touching the leg and not that he first touched the ball¿¿?? If you wanted to make a video in depth then get the full slow video where it shows that he touched the ball before touching his leg!!!

  5. As a City and KDB fan, I must say that after seeing the tackle live I thought it was straight red. But after a few replays, I can understand why the referee decided to only give a yellow.
    1. It definitely wasn't intentional and KDB was aiming for the ball.
    2. What a lot of people are ignoring completely, if the timing was milliseconds different it would have been Gueye fouling Debruyne, because his tackle was just as ruthless.

  6. Haha clowns crying this was red. It was not red..
De bruyne had no intention to go for player and even got the ball first, psg player is just to late and unlucky to end up under de bruynes foot.
This is in no way intentional and in no way a red card… If de bruyne did bot hit the ball it would have been red.
This is fucking united plastic fans crying, this isnt red.. learn the fucking rules.
