On the most recent fan debate video on The Overlap YouTube channel – Liverpool legend and Manchester United legend and Sky Sports Monday Night Football pundits Jamie Carragher and Garuy Neville opened up a new debate on Spurs.

So the debate has risen again over Tottenham and whether they can close the gap on the rest of the Big 6 and compete in the Premier League with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool under Ange Postecoglou and if Daniel Levy, Scott Munn, Johan Lange and Fabio Paratici will change.

Tottenham have not won a trophy since the 2008 Carabao Cup/ League Cup and not won an FA Cup since 1991 – Daniel Levy seems to prefer Tottenham getting top 4 and Champions League football.

Flav Bateman’s friend Alex from the Fighting Cock podcast debated with Carra & G Nev on the Overlap.

This is all interesting after Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich and with Spurs still in search for Champions League football (UCL)

Do you agree with the points made by Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville?

Tottenham travel away in the Premier League to face West Ham United at the London Stadium next in the PL.

The Premier League is heating up with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Bournemouth, Burnley, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Luton Town, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Wolves aka Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham squad include Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Emerson Royal, Yves Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojberg, Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil, Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-Min (ģ†ķ„ėƼ) Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr, Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington, Ashley Phillips, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur, Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence, Ryan Sessegnon, Micky van de Ven, Timo Werner, Radu Dragusin, James Maddison and Dane Scarlett, Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz, Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, Alfie Whiteman, Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon, Lucas Bergvall and Luka Vuskovic.

  1. Tottenham have been spending the same money as your Liverpools and Arsenals. They've spent over 200m just this season. The problem in recent years hasn't been the spending, but the recruitment and the management. And Spurs have been working to fix that (and have shown good results so far). There's absolutely no reason to think that Spurs can't do what Liverpool has done. I can't believe these guys are considered top pundits when they go with narratives that have zero basis in reality. Liverpool doesn't spend more than Spurs, they just ended up with a manager that is actually a winner, unlike Poch (who should've won something when we arguably had the best starting 11 in the league on 16/17)

  2. I don't think it is how much money we spend but what type of signings we can make to fit the system and style of play. You could sign a 100M superstar but they may not be suited to the system or create animosity in the dressing room. Just look at PSG in the past 10 years. What we need is to give Ange full final say in which players to bring into the club. The players need to be young, hungry and strong physically and especially mentally. The last few signings we have made have been extremely good ones. Keep it going and remember Rome wasn't built in a day.

  3. There probably right… I don’t see us winning the league anytime soon and levy hardly ever signs the actual number one targets… I could write a list but it’s too long… all I can say is when we sold harry kane I knew the club had no ambition to win big trophy’s. You don’t sell the best striker in the world… you do everything you can to keep him…

  4. "A leopard never changes its spots" Daniel "DNA" Levy šŸ˜€ Only one persons expectations mean anything at the club at this Mr.Levy not the fans, players, coaches or directors. The day Levy says right we are going for league this season, then "Game on"

  5. Levy is not doing anything. Ange has already said we are a different project. Young prospects that will grow with the team. All our latest signings are under 23 years old.

  6. Levy has done a good job .. I dont agree with the season ticket prices for pensioners but apart from that FFP not an issue ..We are now Londons richest club so need to kick on with spending. It’s all about recruitment this .. We have spent more than Arsenal over the last 5 years but bought badly .. it’s not down to him .. he rubber stamps the deals. Other teams would give their right arm for where he has taken us .. onwards and upwards..COYS

  7. Personally I think the rant that cost conte his job was a masterstroke, it hit home about the club and fans desire. Enter big ange he's a proven winner with his unique style without compromise and now levy is backing him slowly but surely and with a few windows remaining in his time with us then I believe its only a matter of time before silverware starts returning to us and boy do we deserve I. COYS šŸŽ‰

  8. Spurs are only going to get stronger and better. Ange is going to lead us to cup finals, champion's league games and challenging for the top. Levy will have to spend in order for the squad depth. It's not like we're going to be spending like madrid, but we do need more quality players.

  9. We all know that Enics business is to make money not spend it! Besides he behaves like a politician but would you vote for him when he thinks we're all muppets but not him?

  10. Reality is we’re not far away. Reality is we’re only about Ā£250m of new signings away. Reality is that we can recoup Ā£80-100m from exits, which leaves nett balance of Ā£150m spend. Reality is Levy’s in charge of purse strings. Reality is top 4 or pinching a cup along the way is satisfactory to him. Reality is that Levy has underwhelming ambition ceilings for the club. Reality is expected excitement of summer transfer deals are muted.

  11. I think success for this season has already been achieved creating an identity, next season is a different expectation. There are different expectations for every season

  12. The difference is not only with players we buy ,but also compare the youngsters of liverpool to say spurs .how many at spurs are breaking into first team .there's the difference

  13. Why do we need to spend £160 million on Allison and VVD when we can spend £60m on Vic and VDV who are better. We dont need to spend big, we need to continue to spend smarter. Consistency will make Spurs challenge, because right now, with 8/9 games left, were 3 wins behind top of the league. Its not a large gap.

  14. MAY BE GARY NEVILLE SHOULD TELL EVERYONE HOW MUCH MONEY HE WILL MAKE FROM THE TAX PAYER OVER THE NEW MANCHESTER NEW FOOTBALL STADIUM HIM AND HIS. FRIENDS

  15. The odds are certainly against Spurs winning the league, and now the top clubs prioritise all the domestic cups …Ah well, top 4 would be nice…A very long suffering yid lol šŸ˜¬šŸ“

  16. Ange is a joke. We will be mid table by next Christmas believe me. Gets done on the counter attack every match and stands there with a confused look on his face as if he’s oblivious to the fact that he sends everyone but two players into the attacking third. And those two defenders are way inside the opponents half as well. Get him out the club now.

  17. How is it that prats like Neville get paid so much for only seeing one aspect of a situation – one week he talks about spending huge sums of money on new players and then the next gobs off about FFP rules and the restrictions on spending that comes with them – there is no continuity in his thinking because he lacks the intelligence to be anything beyond one dimensional – Levy has taken Spurs through a very difficult transition – at long last people are waking up to what he has actually achieved off the pitch in order to put the Club in a much stronger position on it – yes he has made mistakes along the way – clearly in the past the HC has not had enough input into the buying of new players – but so have other Clubs like Arsenal and more recently Chelsea – but things are clearly changing in that regard too – the important thing Spurs fans want to see is the progress that has clearly been made this Season to continue to the point where we are truly contending for all of the competitions

  18. Have we learned nothing? Wtf is paying 100M on one player when you're signing players like Vicario and VDV who after one season are looking like 3x their worth. Absolute nonsense, signing players for exorbitant fees just for the sake of saying you're going for it.

Loser mentality to "buy success"….buy THE RIGHT PLAYERS, NOT THE PRICETAG.

  19. Bottom line, Levy runs the show and he ain’t going anywhere (why would he?? Why should he?) AND no matter how anyone feels about it he has actually been true to his word. He never overpromissed, and his track record shows he’s prudent… BUT… he DID SAY that he built the finances to support long term success and – true to his word – we are on that trajectory… and there are no more excuses. LEVY HAS NOW TO BUY THE PLAYERS THAT WILL BRING SUCCESS.

  20. The difference now though is, the money that the stadium generates is the clubs money. Levy & Lewis don’t necessarily need to dig into their own pockets to spend money, the money is generated by the stadium & the club. This was the whole point of building the stadium.

  21. Just spending is nonsense, spending on top players who are young and have gre at potential that's what it's all about, I don't think Potchettino would do as well today.

  22. Gary Neville is somewhat biased against Spurs. When Ange leads Spurs to contend for the title, I do hope Neville will be a standup guy and eventually admit that he was wrong.
