On today’s Scout Report, we take a look at how Everton’s new signings have transformed them into Champions League contenders. This summer, they acquired James Rodriguez from La Liga champions Real Madrid, Allan from Napoli, and Abdoulaye Doucoure from relegated Watford, and all three have had an instant impact at Goodison Park, as Carlo Ancelotti looks to challenge the Premier League’s top six.
Having only finished above 8th once in the last six seasons despite ranking as one of the top spending clubs in Europe, Everton have been big underachievers in years gone by, but with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin showing promising signs last season, having a top creator like James to supply them could see their goal output explode. Meanwhile, Allan has brought stability to the club’s midfield, and Doucoure has the engine and drive needed for the club to transition quickly from defence to attack – something they’ve sorely missed until now.
But will this be enough for them to finish in the top four this season? Let us know in the comments!
