On today’s Scout Report, we’re taking a look at the teams which has replaced inferior squad players with genuine stars this summer, and examining what they can expect from their new signings.
First, we head to Anfield, where Juergen Klopp has lost patience with Divock Origi and brought in Diogo Jota from Wolves for £45m. The Portuguese looks ready to help Liverpool in a title challenge now, but could he grow into a replacement for one of the Reds’ fearsome front three?
Then, we head over to Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus, who have finally found a striker to partner Cristiano Ronaldo after the exit of Gonzalo Higuain. Alvaro Morata excelled in Italy before, but disappointing periods at Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have tarnished his reputation. Can a new link-up with Ronaldo, and support from Ramsey and Dybala, reinvigorate his career?
Finally, we assess Man United’s pursuit of Alex Telles, who is expected to join from Porto as a replacement for Luke Shaw. At 27, he’s not one for the future, but the Brazilian’s attacking output could be the perfect complement to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s defensive nous. We see what the left-back has to offer.
