Former Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong could be set to be tested with a move to Manchester United in January, which could land the Hoops a windfall.

The energetic defender quickly endeared himself to the Celtic faithful when signed in a coup deal worth just £350,000 in 2019 from rivals Manchester City on a four-year contract. Frimpong’s form would mean he spent less than two years in Glasgow, securing a huge £11.5m move to Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen in January 2021 and returning to Parkhead in a Europa League encounter last season to much aplomb.

The now 21-year-old has been a standout for the German outfit this season amid a torrid campaign, with La Liga giants Barcelona previously registering interest in the Dutchman. Now, according to Sky Sports in Germany, Manchester United are lining up a swoop in January for the right-back that could see Celtic land a windfall.

Erik Ten Hag has reportedly identified the fast full-back as a profile for his rebuild at Old Trafford, but with interest circulating from other European sides ahead of the January window. The youngster is under contract in Leverkusen until 2025 so a hefty fee may be required to prize him to the English Premier League.

How highly do you rate Jeremie Frimpong?

  1. An overlapping rb is the best thing a sensational winger like Antony can get .It diversifies the no. of options he has .He can easily draw two players from Antony which Dalot can never do .Malacia should also work on his overlapping skills. We will easily have a great team

  2. I know what Ten Hag is doing he wants a very High pressing, fast progressive passing and counter attacking..he looking for off the leash type of goals and if you very slow cb then you're f***d lol

  3. Seems like this guy is much better at progressive carries than Ethan Laird, and perhaps even Dalot as well. I imagine if he plays behind Antony, we'd have someone who could go on the overlap down the right wing since Antony always cuts inside.
