Man City reportedly want Crystal Palace’s 25 year old midfield Eberechi Eze, while also they’re looking at Wolves’ Matheus Nunes. Which would be a better fit for City?

  1. Nunez has been followed by man city for the last 2 years so it isnt really a panic buy, just maybe it is 9 months earlier to hwn they expected!!!

He can play 3 roles cdm, cm ans cam, he has champions league experience, a years prem expereince and would be a pep type player, and Liverpool are interested aswell so double reason to do deal, plus wolves need money so more likely to sell!!!

  2. Honestly I don't want both of them. Instead we can give time to mcatee and perrone.

But if I had to pick one, I would choose Matheus, because he plays more centrally

  3. Won’t lie, I’d be super happy with either but in terms of a straight replacement for gundo Nunes is the one. I feel like he’s the more clever footballer as well after a year of watching him at wolves. Amazing ball retention, visionary passing and good finishing too. Anything below 50mill for him is a massive bargain. Eze seems more like a “make sometning happen out of nothing dribbler” sort of guy rather than a visionary playmaker. I really think Nunes has elements of both

  4. Neither, I’m not sure they truly need to add at this point but if they wanted to add another midfielder I’d rather add someone at Doku’s point in their career like they did on the wing. Young, semi-proven in another league, ready for the next step but may need time to learn before becoming a regular. I worry about bringing in too many players who are used to being regulars. That’s why Doku is such a great move. It’s a slight downgrade from Mahrez for this season, but going from a 32 year old to a 21 year old with that kind of talent is huge for City, who have quietly gotten a little old in some places.

They already got their immediate midfield replacement for Gundo in Kovacic, who’s already 29, and now Foden/Alvarez can combo the KDB role. Both need to play regularly and won’t be happy if they don’t. So bringing in more players in their mid-20’s who expect to play feels like it could be trouble.

A midfield version of Doku – someone who’s 20-21 and projects as a possible stat but will be ok with part time play and starting the cup games is the ideal fit if they feel like they need one more body.

Kudus, Florian Wirtz, Moleiro, Manu Koné, Samuele Ricci just to name a few at different price points that would all fit that mold. I’d rather see someone like that who will add depth and talent without interfering with Foden/Alvarez’s playing time.
