This is the problem with the media, you have people like the guy who sits on the right hand side defending Southgate for mediocrity. If Pep or Klopp had been in charge of this England team over the same period and we had results like what we have had, we would be calling them out as failures. It's a small nation mindset to call success reaching semi-finals or finals, based on how the media portray our "world class" players. If any of the other top nations (France Germany Spain Brazil Argentina etc) go into a tournament and don't win it is automatically a failure.
I am not saying we have a right to win every tournament we turn up to. But considering how pundits like to describe our players as world beaters then for them not to win a tournament is a failure. Therefore the manager must take blame in that

I love listening to football fans sometimes they make me feel so smart! I know I'm not, I'm 63 years old and been watching most of my life so what the hell do I know about football? Apart from Sir Alf Ramsey the the only England manager to take us to a major tournament final is Gareth Southgate and people are baying for his blood, unbelievable. Keep me laughing kids the old yin needs a laugh.

That Rory guy was correct. I hope he is reading this, but they just weren't listening to him. Mainoo is only 18, and hasn't got enough experience, no matter how good he is. When it comes to the next level (mentally), Mainoo will struggle against the biggest teams at international level. He can't be the answer, unless he can overcome the kind of pressure that playing for England creates. Kalvin Phillips was the answer after the Euros, but his form has ruled him out. If Phillips can play really well between now and the end of the season, I believe he can be the answer again.

Stop saying Bellingham is a 10! he doesn't play at 10, he's a second striker for Madrid. Just because he plays there for Madrid doesn't mean he has to play there for England! Rice plays at 8 for Arsenal when Jorginho plays at 6 does this mean Rice should play at 8 for England? This is the issue with England and England fans!

Actually agree with the Chelsea fan, Mainoo would be good in a diamond but Henderson would be better on his own in defensive midfield. I think the Chelsea fan just doesn't believe in the way England play and he'd be right against the top teams unless England have a more balanced midfield 5.
