England are the worst โbig football nationโ in history. Almost 60 years without winning a trophy, every time they faced a big team in tournaments they failed. In english media they are often talking about โthe golden generationโ of early 00s, but completely forgetting the quality teams like Brazil, France, Italy or Argentina had back then. Especially from a tactical point of view England never came close to these countries. In fact you could see in the Premier League era foreign managers were always the most influential. Wenger and Mourinho back then or Pep and Klopp recently had a big impact on the development of tactics and playing styles. England were historically always a step behind in comparison to the best football nations.
