US midfield star Yunus Musah hailed his team for qualifying for the last 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, claiming it was a “great feeling” to see Christian Pulisic’s first-half strike fend off the challenge of Iran to seal a place in the knock-out stages.
Pulisic again came to his team’s rescue with the all-important deciding goal on 38 minutes as the US dug deep to defend their lead in the second half and shut out Iran to qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup for the first time in eight years.
And the Valencia star who celebrated his 20th birthday in style by beating Iran 1-0, hailed Pulisic for his leadership and “brilliance,” adding that the Chelsea player had “done it again” for his country.
The US finished undefeated behind leaders England in their three group games and will now face the Netherlands in the last 16 of the World Cup on Sunday.
