I have to disagree with this one. Horrible business imo, it’s not €15 million, so £12 million, not enough, he’s a really useful squad player, in a team that plays a midfield 3, we need more than 3 midfielders in the whole squad, which is now what we’re at with him gone. He’s got a good attitude too. Practically every single player in the squad other than him, and podence were scrambling for the door as soon as they realised they weren’t gonna start every week, either that or they just phone it in every time they come on like Adama and Hwang. I would’ve been okay if we brought in Boubacar Traore in as an addition to our midfield, but not as a replacement for someone else, even Donk, do you really think this unknown rando from the French second division is gonna do that much better than Leander Dendonker? If at all? (Watch us not even get him by the way, apparently we’re not offering enough for him, even if we do get him he’ll probably end up costing us as much as Donk’s fee, I have a feeling Metz are taking the piss a little). Also I’ve literally never heard anyone refer to Donk as a “goal-scoring midfielder” so I don’t know what that’s about. He’s nowhere near as bad as people say he is, he gets made the scapegoat far too often, do you really think he’s been as bad as, say Hwang has recently for example? Not at all in my eyes. Also if we were gonna replace him, don’t wait till bloody deadline day to do it, our midfield depth is completely gone now.

Couldn’t agree MORE, for me both Saiss and Dendoncker were never the level we should be looking to in PL, Wish then both well going fwd obviously, but we need to be aiming far higher. They were also-rans IMHO
