I fenced sabre in college and there was a fencer from another school that had a reputation of punching us with the guard. The referee never said a word about it. It was dirty as hell.
Sure seems like Kim is the equivalent of one of those basketball players that always seems to get into these big Hollywood fouls. Seems to be his schtick.
Youβve got it all wrong buddy, the point should only be annulled, if the FIRST TOUCH / HIT is made with the guard coming in contact with the opponent. If the first touch is made with the blade, its not against the rules. Obviously if the follow-up blow seems intentional, the referee can penalize the fencer with a card for rough behaviour, but they are NOT allowed to take a point for that. The only referee making a mistake in theese clips is the very first one.
The most useless 35 inches in the world. The sabre blade, when you use the guard for the touch. You would think that world class fencers have enough judgement and control to land a touch with the front end instead of the back end. Mistakes happen. But seriously, stop going that deep.
I've never watched fencing in my entire life. I have no interest in swords or sticks whatsoever. My main interests are snails and flowers. Why do I keep getting these videos recommended? I just want to watch snails and flowers. Please.
Two main takeaways, 1) that Kim fella cant fence for sh!t and flops like the LA Clippers. Anyone tell him the objective is to not get hit? 2) The rule is simple, fine the judges for failure to officiate. I can see where some instances can be questionable @1:15 for example- hit is made and fencer retracts as Kim continues to lunge his head into the gaurd. Other's shouldnt be penalized because Kim is trying to cheat a win through penalties.
Idk why he even gave Neri the touch to begin with, the punch was obvious without the replay. My only guess is that he was going to judge it as the others shown had been, then realised there was no blade hit before the punch. Idk if my eyes are just that good or what, but I didn't need a replay to see that

Itβs called a guard for a reason, those overreactions are very bad form.
Imo, guard strikes should count
Kim Junho headbutting sabres like they're footballs.
In so many of these matches if they were real both fencers would be dead or badly wounded.

So I beat him on points.
Kim is a flopper

That Kim seems to go down an awful lot and in the same style every time π§
Kim j is a guard magnet lmao
Some of the people must have been soccer or basketball players previously. Lots of acting skills.
If in doubt, just use real rapiers and a real duel and that will solve the problem in one single go…
Just like soccer players…
Hurr. Taking all the fun out of a "combat sport".
Damn, Refs are jacking up every sport.
Crap sport with lots of cheaters and back stabbers

Honestly the second one makes me think that maybe, maybe Kim's playing the ref a little bit too?
Fencers either make terrible boxers or extremely good ones.
