Barcelona is planning to reduce the wage bill soon with the exit of Memphis Depay and the salary reduction of Miralem Pjanic and Marc Andre Ter Stegen as Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique only want to defer their wages.

I would be really surprised if FDJ takes a pay cut. He literally has no reason too and the club just spent 200+ million this window. Takes balls to demand a player take a wage cut under those circumstances.
Regarding Xavi, I’m less confident in him now than I was last season. A good coach can develop what he has and not be constantly signing the same positions over and over. This team has great youngsters who will be top notch if they are given a chance to develop and I include FDJ and Dest in those yet he wants to replace them with expensive players on the back end of their prime. Those are the most expensive options as you are buying past results, not potential. This team last year beat Real Madrid 4-0, they would have made the knock out round in the CL. If this team underperforms, Xavi and Laporta will have a lot to answer for.
