Being the player he is today hasn't always been easy for Kevin De Bruyne, because at Chelsea he couldn't get a game and he didn't look cut out for the premier league as Jose Mourinho barely gave him any playing time and when he played, he looked lost which isn't entirely his fault. This part of his career isn't spoken about enough where he spent one season at Wolfsburg and he was absolutely balling and he had around 20+ assists in the Bundesliga and it was evident that he had world class potential despite his initial stint in England not working out and when he made that move to Manchester City in 2015, a lot of people had doubts on whether he can cut it in the premier league this time around and a lot of people wondered why they paid a lot of money for a Chelsea reject.
As they say, the rest is history as he's been a 10/10 at Manchester City and has won everything there is to win at the football club. Under Pep Guardiola, he elevated his game to another level completely and he was the driving force on the best team in English football. Greatness is all about being able to put the team on your back and deliver the trophies and how many midfielders were able to win 5 premier league titles in 6 years while being the most important player in most of their league titles. There were periods where he was injured and it didn't stop the team from winning, in 2019 they won the league while he missed most of the season with injury, when fit the team is on a whole new level. In 5 different PL seasons he's registered 10+ assists or more and in his best ever individual season in the premier league in a year where City surprisingly didn't win the league he had 13 goals and 20 assists in 2019/20 which was absolutely staggering. He has shown that he isn't a one season wonder as his consistency levels are crazy as he's won premier league player of the season twice as along with Mohamed Salah he's been the best player in the league for the past couple of years and has had the most assists in a premier league season on 4 different occasions (2017,2018, 2020, and 2022). In the last decade, only Lionel Messi has more assists than Kevin De Bruyne which is 202 assists and he needs 2 more to surpass him. He's also a big game shows up in big moments in the premier league and the champions league and while Haaland scored a lot of goals last season, KDB was a big reason as to why they won the treble. Even this season, despite being out for 5 months, he's already came back with a bang 2 goals and 11 assists, this was a guy who got an assist in his first game back from injury, got a goal and an assist coming off the bench in a game in which his team was a goal down, he recently got 4 assists in a game, first UCL game of the season a knockout stage match a goal and 2 assists. He remains the best midfielder in the world and he's been excellent domestically for Manchester City and with his exploits year in year out and how he's continued to dominate the premier league, when all said and done Kevin De Bruyne could go down as the greatest midfielder in premier league history and this is the same guy who didn't cut it in English football the first time.
I alr knew kdb story so far but i was heart broken hearing that he couldve joined dortmund imagine how good the midfield is going to be with prime reus, kagawa and gundogan
I am back
Kevin De Bruyne is one of the most complete players in world football and as a CAM in the modern game he has everything. Stats (goals assists passes crosses, shooting, chances created), and on the ball he can do everything as he's a technical genius who's an elite playmaker and he has the full package on display. His playmaking is just on another level because he whips in so many balls in the box due to his insane power, he has that instinct of playing a killer pass and most of his assists have been down to how he produces a pass out of nothing just when you think he'll play the ball short. We all talk about how good of a playmaker he is combined that with his ability to also score goals. In a season he can give you at least 10+ goals and also a season where he had 20 assists in the prem, he bagged 13 goals and also in the 2021/22 season where they played without a proper striker and won another premier league title despite his playmaking he had more goals than assists and bagged 19 goals and was their top scorer in the premier league. He's a midfielder and it's not just the amount of goals he scores, he scores bangers from outside the box and is elite at shooting with both feet. He's just a special player and while number 10s were unable to adapt to the modern game, he redefined his role and became a complete midfielder. Also, many people will wonder how Belgium failed to win an international trophy despite having Kevin De Bruyne and a very talented squad as he came up short with his country in major tournaments, but at his exploits at club level have been the foundation for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. Will all due respect to what Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard did for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively, Kevin De Bruyne's success at Manchester City, he has surpassed their legacy in the premier league and he shows no signs of slowing down even if he does have some niggling injuries because there's no stopping him when healthy.
Do a video on sterling or foden
Believe it or not when de bruyne sign for chelsea back in 2012, I'm very interested in him. I even said he was better than Oscar and they should have give him a chance instead of signing the Brazilian. I was also disappointed when mourinho didn't give him a chance and sold him, I was still very upset about it till this day. Honestly chelsea could have more success than man city if they had be more patient with him.
I'm no city fan but being completely honest he's my favorite player ever ❤️
Day 42 of asking of salem aldaswiri

I am a Man United fan (sorry Nabhuto, but I will always respect the hell out of Liverpool, even though I hate them), and seeing De Bruyne at the level he is, it brings me back to when I was 12 years old watching Prime Messi, Ronaldo, Oscar, Pogba, Xabi Alonso, and other great players on the pitch, and just seeing the tactical genius and joy of soccer.
Even though it pisses me off that De Bruyne plays for Man City, I gotta give him props, he is one of the best midfielders of all time, and absolutely the best midfielder of all time in the Premier League, and yes. De Bruyne is on par with Paul Scholes.
