Absolutely love Rice but he is still not on the level of Partey. Odegaard is coming deep because there is no Partey. Arsenal have suffered to progress the ball to the middle third this season and have struggled offensively as a result. We have improved this year and guess why?! Because the captain has had to come and dictate play from deep. When Jorginho plays he does that job and Rice can get forward more and pin the opposition in their own half. Bro I’m shocked you don’t see this.

Yes he makes Arsenal better but I wish he's more of a risk taker with incisive passes.
Overall Rice is a better player than Partey. Partey though is a lot more press resistent and progressive with his in between the lines passing add to that his ability to disguise his passes. His quick feet/dribbling and drop of the shoulder under high pressure makes him more unpredictable and unorthodox. His only drawback are the consistent injuries…It's such a shame we rarely got to see them dominate midfields together
People can say Partey is better than Rice, it is what it is, but it's a pointless discussion when Partey is hardly fit. If you had to rely on either player, it would be Rice hands down because he isn't fragile like Partey is. If we didn't have Rice this season, I shudder to think where we'd be in the league right now.

They offer different things i dont think you can make a like for like comparison he's a better passer and rice the better defender and imo the slightly better player i value defensive players more

Great video but I have to disagree with the Partey/Rice take. Rice is a far better defender than Partey but when it comes to pass selection, body feints, breaking the lines, driving with the ball, and even shot selection (as of last season) Partey is in another league. There is a reason why Partey was compared to Rodri because both are stylistically similar players. Rice is far more athletic than Rodri and Partey, hence why that box-2-box role suits him. As a 6, he still has to grow thats why in big games hes the box-2box and Jorginho is the 6.
I love Rice, but I do think people forget the talent of Thomas Partey. There will be times both players are on the field together, and I for one cannot wait to see it
Partey is class no need to look down on the our player other than his availability. Partey is better at some stuff. Rice is better at some stuff
