Jordan Pickford admits England will head to Qatar with more pressure and expectation on them having reached the semi-finals in Russia four years ago and finished runners-up at last year’s Euros, but he says their belief in going all the way is unshakeable.

He has also revealed how working with a psychologist has helped him put past struggles behind him and take his game to another level ahead of the World Cup with England.

The Everton goalkeeper, who has 45 caps for England and shone during their last two major tournament appearances, is expected to hold on to the No 1 shirt in Qatar having earned rave reviews for his performances at club level this season.

Pickford feels he is in the best form of his career and puts it down, in part, to the help of a psychologist he has been working with since the 2019/20 campaign.

  1. Somehow I don’t think so. Kane is going to have to dive to score goals, plus with all the injuries in defence, you’re really up against it and saying that you’re not means you’re only kidding yourself

  2. This man hasn’t really put a foot wrong for England. He was unlucky not to win the Euros after making a couple of saves during the penalty shootout. While his form for Everton can be debated at times, his form for England can’t be disputed.

  3. this is going to be a corrupt world cup im not expecting anything lol
with the amount of BAD var calls happening i can only imagine whats it going to be like in Qatar

  4. 😂😂😂😂😂 Not long now till the coming home nonsense starts again. Been saying every 2 years since 66 that it's coming home and it still hasn't arrived

  5. The Best players in the English leagues are not even English. How exactly will they win it? England is so far off from winning it IMO. The coach, the mentality, the philosophy….naahh. It ain't there. Just 442s and headers and unlucky eliminations all the time.

  6. Can't believe he's leaving out the likes of Beckham, Ashley Cole, Rio, Terry, Neville, Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Shearer, etc. Massive oversight.

  7. No win in 6. Southgate selects has beens who don't even play for their clubs and got thrashed by Hungary and these deluded think they'll go far. England will get knocked out in the last 16 and Southgate will hopefully quit as he's tactically inept and is holding the England team back.

  8. Pickford is a joke he not in Level of the world class goalkeeper in the world cup. Look at his game in Everton and you thing he can win the world Cup with his as the goalkeeper. If he is that good he be in top team and play champions league football but he a low class keeper that wasted time in match and injury other team players to win. And that if he lucky to get away with it.
