BR in part left celtic first time round due to not getting the signings he was requesting to take the team forward. Mid June 2023 BR was appointed manager and he talked about working with a very talented and exciting squad and how every facet of the club was doing great. Jota leaving was already in the works, the much maligned starfelt left and 33 year old mooy retired. We are then led to believe that for the next 2.5 months BR had no discussion regarding recruitment, no input into signings, no say whatsoever from a manager who previously left the club partially due to not getting signings he wanted. I don't buy that and if that were the case then why would an experienced manager ever let that happen? Are we to believe BR is nothing more than a coach who's only role is to coach the players at his disposal? Are we to believe if this were the case that he was made aware of this prior to taking the job and he agreed? The more you try to find excuses for the man the less any of it makes sense. BR is not a stupid man, you don't return back to a club without doing your due diligence, he is not naive and he had every right to be cautious about taking the position and getting a very clear understanding of his role and what the club would offer him. BR is certainly not blameless in this mess, to the contrary he might actually be the most culpable.

Had the chance in January to at least get a couple of decent players but end up last minute with Idah Cascarino and Feartypants Kuhn.. deary me..

I’ve commented on one of your subscribers post regarding transfers…..i believe that over the last 8-10 years the Celtic board would rather spend 20 million on 10-12 players in the hope of that Jota money rather than 20 million on the 3 or 4 positions that your squad was screaming out for in the January window. IF and I say IF (as this league is a million miles away from being over) rangers win the league, I believe the lack of spending in they key positions yous were screaming out for will almost certainly cost you the title this year. And IF that happens and we get the champions league money up for grabs this year, this will level the playing field in Glasgow for years to come. One thing I will say is that regardless what the outcome of the league Phil will gut this squad out of the dross we have and our board will invest heavily for another battle next season on all fronts. I think the younger generation are not used to this and this showed with the fans fighting in the stands at Aberdeen. My good friend who is a tic supporter and in his mid 40’s said that Parkhead is a cauldron of hatred as the old school are fighting with the young team and add the green brigade into the mix it’s horrible to sit and watch so I’m not surprised the players are feeling the heat. This was the case for us and sitting in Ibrox on the day Aberdeen beat us in Beales last game, I know exactly how they must feel. Now the tables are turned and when I go to Ibrox every other week and also away games the atmosphere is completely different. It’s electric and feels like a European game every time our players walk on the park.
