  1. Don’t we think the intensity and the speed of the EPL will help raise Gio’s floor, developmentally? Especially getting defensive experience in the midfield. I think that will help him grow in the areas where he needs the most growth

  2. The only problem is having to watch Nottingham Forest. Seems like Americans cant crack top 16 teams (at least for long term); Dest, Pulisic, Adams, Mckennie are all downgrading from their level as teens

  3. I used to think loans like this were low risk and potentially high reward until Leeds’ supporters really turned on McKennie—feels like his reputation in England was really damaged regardless of his current form. On the other hand, NF supporters seem much more forgiving, so maybe the risk to Gio’s reputation is low.

  4. I was on some Nottingham blogs this morning. They seem to think he will start on the wing. I hope so because being a backup 10 at forest is the same as being a backup 10 at Dortmond.

  5. The real conspiracy theory would be… Did Mendes secretly tank moves to clubs where he didn't have a relationship? It is a little funny that the one move that goes through for Gio is where Mendes would double-benefit…

  6. Not a fan of this move to epl but he will start over Hudson-odoi or other winger. Gibbs white isn’t that good either… gio is more creative and better on the ball than Gibbs. Gibbs is fast and loves to press so I could maybe see nuno playing Gio behind wood and gibbs on wing.

  7. Gio resigning until 2026 is just Dortmund protecting their asset, the only part that concerns me about that is it means he’ll be more expensive and that transfer fee could be a source of pressure for Gio. Really wouldn’t worry about him resigning tho

  8. As a Forest fan, Gio is 100% going to start on the wing. MGW will stay at the 10. Forest is thin on wingers and has been forced to play Dominguez out of position. Ideally you will see Elanga and Gio start on the wing together with Hudson-Odoi off the bench.

  9. I don’t like this move but honestly I really want him out of Dortmund under Tezic. Let’s just hope for the best… being in BVB won’t help him either. He’s better giving a shot aborad

  10. These josh Sargent Stan's bro wanting Reyna in the championship 😂. Why are there so many josh Sargent Stan's?? Do you know how many number 9s we have ahead of him?

  11. As a forest fan, Gio is being brought in to play on the wing. We play a 4-2-3-1 so he’ll be out wide. He won’t start over Gibbs white and I can’t see him being in a midfield 2.

  12. Forest fan here – I'm quite excited by this move, and hope that it works out well for both Gio and the club.

However, I do find it a bit strange that a fair few Americans seem to be less than pleased with him coming to the City Ground. People say he needs game time, which he isn't getting at Dortmund, hence why he's gone out on loan. People also seem to ask "why has he gone to a small club like Forest", and those people need to look into the history of Forest a bit more.

However, it pretty much boils down to this – if Gio puts in the hard work, and impresses during training, then he'll undoubtedly earn his chance to show what he can do in the Premier League. If he doesn't put in the work and effort, then he won't play. He's a very talented young player, but he's not the second coming of Pele (at least not yet).

I do hope this move works out for everyone involved, and I would love to see Gio flourish while he's here. But whether he is a success here or not is largely up to him.
