Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has apologised after his red-card challenge on Álvaro Morata in the Spanish Supercopa. Deep into extra-time, with the game tied at 0-0, the forward was running through on goal before he was cynically brought down by the Uruguayan. ‘That was the only thing left for me to do, I tried other things but it didn’t work out, he is a very fast player,’ admitted the 21-year-old. Real Madrid went on to win 4-1 on penalties

  1. Atletico fan here:
Valverde doesn't need to apologise, this is football, win first and worry about the press later. Great of him to be decent and offer an apology but simeone, morata and the rest of the Atletico side will not be upset by this.

  2. I will say that real madrid fans are the worst, if a barca or an atletico player does this, they are the worst. Valverde does it and they want to build him a statue 🤔

  3. Who cares for fairplay? They make a unfair player a hero for a foul to win a title. When kids see that they will say, it is okay to be unfair as long as my team wins. Bad rolemodels, but thats normal in a corrupt and egoistic bloody football business!
