In this video, NEW Roro AX22 BFS Spool for the Gekkabijin AIR TW, Alphas AIR TW (BFS Trout Fishing), Hobie-Wan Kenobi field test the new Roro AX22 spool for the Daiwa Gekkabijin, Alphas AIR Tw and Silver Creek AIR TW.
The Roro AX22 spool makes pitching and short casting even easier. The low, flat trajectory makes casting more accurate and also decreases the chance of line getting caught in brush. Being that the Gekkabijin is more of a distance oriented casting reel, the Roro AX22 will compliment the stock spool quite well and allow the angler to fish the widest spectrum of BFS fishing with one reel.
AX22 upgrades from the previous AX24:
1. Titanium alloy central shaft brake end is embedded with a rotating ceramic 2mm ball to reduce friction and to ensure more free rotation.
2. Spool slope angles were tuned to increase line management. This increases smoothness of casting and more even line lay on spool.
3. Spool edge modified to virtually eliminate line getting trapped between frame and spool edge.
4. New design increases durability without a sacrifice to performance.

I would like to see you doing multi species BFS fishing including bass, trout, walleye, panfish etc. Different techniques (bottom techniques, open water, top water, hard- and softbaits etc.). When do you use which color, which type of bait etc… I know….that‘s a lot but I think you can teach the community transferring your knowledge…

Iam using it on trout and bass fishing. I always use braid line with fc-leader in double length of used rod.

I used BFS for multi species but haven't try to catch trout. One day, I will catch a trout. Mostly I catch Bass, Crappie, Bream, Sunfish, white bass…I also caught catfish too by accident … 😂
What thickness line and how much line did you put in it?

Hi hobie. I am new to bfs but have fallen in love with this style of fishing. I have the Daiwa steez ct sv tw 700hl. I use it for smallmouth in small streams. I would like to put a lighter roro spool in it and put it on a small trout rod. Does roro make one for that reel? Would you recommend this reel for trout? What rod would you recommend with that reel for trout in small streams? Thanks you for your 10 yrs of knowledge. You have educated me and saved me years of trial and error, let alone the thousands I would have spent on the wrong gear trying to figure it all out.lol.

Daiwa now has different kinds of spools for it Air TW line..The Gekkabejin, Alphas Air TW and Silver Creek Stream Custom each have a unique spool. There are two or three aftermarket spools now available for these reels too. Could you do a video with a quick overview of each and which spool you choose for the type of fishing situations that you encounter?

Just ordered this spool (Golden, Standard), for my 22 Silver Creek from their website. Can't wait to test it while fishing for some trout 😀 definetly going for braid, just not sure yet which one.
