Veterans Hakim Ziyech and Yassine Bounou led by example on Saturday as Morocco completed the preparation for their second match of AFCON Group F against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Morocco, the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists in Qatar, started the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire with a 3-0 win over Tanzania – defender Romain Saïss, midfielder Azz-Eddine Ounahi and stricker Youssef En-Nesyri scoring the three goals.
The two most recent matches between the Atlas Lions and Congo were back in March 2022 in the qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.
Morocco were held to a 1-1 draw in Congo but thrashed the opponents in the reverse match 4-1.
Morocco have won the competition once in 1976 in Ethiopia while Congo claimed the trophy twice, in Egypt in 1974 and also in Ethiopia in 1986.
