Iran arrived in Qatar on Monday to begin final preparations ahead of the start of the AFC Asian Cup.
Amir Ghalenoei’s side will play in Group C with the United Arab Emirates and surprise qualifiers Palestine and Hong Kong, China.
Iran will open with Palestine on January 14th, followed by fixtures with Hong Kong, China on the 19th and the UAE on the 23rd in what should be the group decider.
Iran are three-time winners of the Asian championship, having lifted the trophy in 1968, 1972, and 1976.
Team Melli have played the most matches in the history of the AFC Asian Cup with 68, one more than South Korea, and also hold the record for the most victories in the tournament with 41.
