  1. I would wait until the summer to spend big. I don’t want to get to carried away with Villa at the moment. Yes there is a difference between Emery and Gerrard and yes I agree we need a few transfers but nothing this big until we see how well Emery does after the break. Just remember how we were saying the same thing about Gerrard and how great he was when we won our first two games under him and he was close against Man City and Liverpool and we thought we had the next great manager. Well that ended up not being the case. So let’s slow down and let him sign one or two transfers at good prices then see if he can actually take us into the top 8 with just this squad then we spend big. I don’t want to get carried away with Emery just yet. Love the positivity but we also need to reel it in and be smart with our moves. I think the owners will be level headed about and that’s them being smart not stingy if they don’t sign Pau Torres or some 40+ mil signing this Jan transfer window

  2. Loving this, if he is the standard of player we are looking at then let’s have it.
Your right Luke, the team will look very different after one, two Windows. It’s about time Villa went in this direction we have had too many seasons with average purchasing and average managers. UTV

  3. Interesting stuff, Luke. I'm of the opinion that virtually ever player is 'upgradable', but financial constraints now dictate the choices every club makes. That said, I'm in full agreement with you that a top quality; ball-playing; central defender should – and probably will – be Emery's top priority now. Apart from Ashley Young (when he plays), none of our current defenders have shown they are fully capable of building play from the back, but hopefully Unai's managerial experience & technical nous will improve a lot of the players we have at present: regardless of who the club look to sign during the the next window. Exciting times, mind. UTV!

  4. Dont forget that we got Leon Bailey who was rated above the Sanchos of the world and every player in his age in Bundesliga, scored on Bayern every time and they wanted him to replace Arjen Roben.

  5. I'm not happy with the defence, Konsa and Mings have been dodgy. I wonder who will go if Torres is signed.. There's no way we could keep all of them happy

  6. UTV daily, love it, yeah the player sounds like a good punt, what is this about the MLS ? Pete mentioned something he is happy about and shut down till next time/ Do you know anything Luke?

  7. Yes, been saying this for ages, if we are serious about playing at a higher level, we needed a proper manager (tick) and proper players, no more trying to do it on the cheap with £20 mil players, we need to by the best we can! UTV

  8. Made me laugh Luke when you said "I've been thinking about Villa….." Do we think of anything else?!!😆 Spot on when you say only way we improve now is better players and winning mindset!!

  9. I Think Villa Should Make A Sneaky Bid For Conor Coady Now Mings & Coady Get On Brilliantly On & Off The Field & Hes Only On Loan At Everton From Wolves & They Looklike They Might Go Down This Season So Put A Sneaky Bid In Now Before The WorldCup & Have Him At Villa Park For Start Of Next Season

  10. I Agree & He Actually Already Seems To Be More Clear & In Touch With The Fans So I Think HE MUST GET FULL BACKING UNTIL HE HAS A GOOD 6 or 7 PLAYERS In The Squad But i think the FANS Need To Not Be To Attached To All The Current Players & Back Hos Decisions Whoever He Gets Rid Off & Brings In

  11. That would be amazing, but he will be in demand if anyone triggers his release fee. Don’t forget Emery is also very good at plucking unknowns who become incredible signings for his system. Who would have believed that Etienne Capouie would be a Europa league cup winner but he was with Emery. Kessie and Torres would be mind blowing signings in one window. We would have so much momentum

  12. I think Mings and Konsa are ok at the back if we want to STAY where we are. But we all want this team to move forward and towards Europe and unfortunatley I dont believe that happens with mings and Konsa. People have to but sentiments aside for the bigger picture of the club

  13. I feel the expectation of the board has changed, because of having got a top level coach, and they will now bring in one maybe two top players per window. Think the days of 15-20 million squad players is over and I’m all for it!! Thanks for the great video Luke, UTV!!!

  14. Good manager…best it will be this season is around tenth and he will be over achieving with this group of players who are not winners and wont be able to maintain good form…A proper centre back would be a start but a nice stabilisation this season then a rebuild over next couple of seasons putting Villa in a decent position to be again the club it once was

  15. In the next 2 transfer windows I expect us to do upgrades on mings ,mcginn, and Watkins or ings so the spine of the team could look alot different this time next year utv podcast

  16. If we're revisiting summer transfer links, please please do Johnathon David. Numbers off the charts this term.

Agree with everything in this video but we should remember that the numbers for playing out from the back will be skewed a little vs what it could be in the PL as less teams play with a high press in La Liga. Not that he can't do it or it it won't be good but look at his individual matches and his lower ratings are against teams that play higher up the pitch.

That said I'd love him at the club and he is a great defender

  17. The links with Torres were there last window. Don't think it actually could have happened. Now it can- elite manager, who has actually managed Pau Torres. I believe it will happen. In Unai we trust!

  18. I’ve mentioned before there won’t be many of the current first team there this time next year! like you said ! it’s time to move on and build a formidable squad that takes a truck load of money so let’s see but I’m excited for the future.they took a flyer on Gerard that didn’t work unfortunately know they mean business got a top class coach now for top class players .utv

  19. The 2 areas where villa need major upgrades, central defense and wide midfielders/wingers. Also dont be surprised if the sacred cow of martinez is sacrifised by emery, footballing skills questionable.

  20. Mate love this, and I’m 100% down for Carlos and Torres – can you actually imagine????

Ps. Can we get big John Carew outta the shit as well as loved him bro …. He was class back in the day and he’s bigger than me, and you, ….you know the song …. Ha ha 😉

Great pod matey thank you 💜💙

  21. I’m with on that 💯 Luke go get him now, I’ve wanted him for a couple of windows. Also if we don’t spend think it’s 12th with this squad. Spend get Pau and a couple more in arguably we aren’t a million miles beind 7th

  22. Hey Luke…. how about going for Ronaldo on the cheap… on the free and £29,000 a week as hes old, with a GUARANTEED 29 mins every other game. 1 year rolling contract. If Ashley Young can do the business then I think he has a chance bud.

  23. Exciting times ahead for January heading into new year Luke!!! Always look forward to your vids pal keep up the hard work up the villa with unai Emery!!!

  24. The way i see it is when coming up from the championship weve had to revamp the squad an spend lots of money to buy players that would come to us to make us competitive in the prem i would say we have achieved that, now we need to make the next step an start getting players that can help us do that, we are an established prem team now an have an elite manager in charge we are now more attractive to top players, now is the time to push on. UTV

  25. Some great comments regarding transfers and potential players in ….. Luke, what do you think will happen to coutiniho now….. is he an unai player?….. could he do something more productive with him ….. I’d love to hear your thoughts?

  26. If Villa have a bid accepted, every other club in Europe would throw in a bid and we'll likely lose out to the big boys. Let's be realistic here. Pau Torres would instantly transform the defence of any team on the planet. Yes, we have Emery, but other teams can offer more cash, European football etc. The best chance to get him is to haul ourselves up the league and prove to Pau that we're a team on the rise, and we need him as our crowning jewel. Personally, I think Pau Torres is a highly optimistic, but unrealistic target. 45 mil is nothing in today's context – 16/20 Prem teams could easily afford that.
