John Herdman Discusses Canada's World Cup Draw and Group F
The Coach of Team Canada, John Herdman, sits down with James Duthie to discuss the team being drawn into Group F, and how special it is for Canada to be back in the World Cup.
This is group of death. Anyone can make it. Belgium and Morocco should be favorites but Canada can slip through. Underdog mentality can get them to r.16
I like this coach, he’s really aware of his team, he’s not arrogant, he doesn’t underestimate the opponents. To be honest, everything can happen in this group.
Its nice that he said we can put Italian and Croatian shirts on the drawer but did not mention Belgium or Morocco. There probably is no canadian that came from Morocco or Belgium.

Personally I found him less professional than other coaches,, he was talking about Belgium and Croatia without mentioning Morocco to which is one of the strong reams in 6 times world cup!!!! kind of sad
The dude didn't even mention the name of his 3rd opponent: Morocco..what a shame..just a reminder of Morocco's last friendly confrontations with group F: Morocco 2 – Croatia 2 Morocco 4 – Belgium 1 Morocco 4 – Canada 0
To tell you the truth it could have easily been worse for canada. They don't have a world cup winner in their group even though some in their group have come close. They avoided 5 time winners brazil, they avoided 4 time winners Germany and Spains group, they avoided portugals/uruguays group which I think is the closest one to the infamous group of death. The US definitely got an easier group though but not by much.
Remember that Germany was last in its group last WC…. 90 minutes with a ball anything can happen. I predict Canada will meet Morocco at the final as well.

as a mexico fan that watched concacaf qualifiers all throughout i promise you this canada team is making it out the group i'd even go as far as say they can very easily top the group not only do they have so much talent in their squad they also play with grit and determination everyone in that squad plays their hardest for the full 90 minutes and having a top class manager is what puts them over the edge this team is special just watch what they do

How odd they speak about games of canada in group F talking about belgium and croatia without even say a word about morocco.. overconfidant indeed.. looks like they're missing the fact that moroccan players performe in top level clubs in europe (england spain italy france germany and more) and they had best attack in africa and best defence as well when they got their ticket for qatar and they're ranked 22 in the world.. what's your ranking canada?!! you really think it doesn't worth talking about them cos canada a nation of hocky does not care that much about those guys.. I'm glad to be alive for a world cup event with a Canadian team.
Growing up, I always wondered why we weren't able to make a notable soccer team. There is plenty of talent in this country due to it's diversity of men.
My pickup games are incredibly competitive, let alone the organization level games out there.
We got the technology and we got the resources to develop top tier athletes here. Even with the cold weather, it just should make us that much stronger. 🏃♂️🇨🇦
Belgium here, In theory we could beat anyone but Brazil, but in practice things are very very different. We'll need to be sharp to beat Canada and pray we're lucky against Croatia. I hope our guys realise that Hard work will always beat talent if talent doesnt work hard. You certainly have a chance here Canada. C u soon ✌️❤️🇧🇪
Hi John, Please watch the matches from Spain & Japan today. Canadian team supposes to pass the ball to the goal area and others suppose to run toward it to catch and kick to the goal. I don't see we have this strategy to attack the goalkeeper like Japan or Spain does.
When the Canadian team is in the goal area, they don't know how to connect with each other to go deeply into the goal area. They passed the ball back and forth outside the goal area. Then, they lost the ball so many times.
Moreover, the one who kicked the ball for corner or penalty outside or inside goalkeeper should be trained properly. I saw they kicked the ball very far outside the goal so many times and I frustrated for the penalty kick. If penalty kick, we should kick straight ball to the area where the goalkeeper standing. Because 100% he would jump from left and right. Or train to kick it higher because he would jump from left or right on the grass.
Please train it for the Canadian team for the next match urgently.
