In the 2023-2024 Premier League season, after 21 matches in just his 2nd season since joining Manchester United, Antony has managed to surprise absolutely everyone and provide a grand total of 0 goals and 0 assists.

It really makes you wonder, how the hell was he valued as one of the most expensive transfers in premier league history at €100,000,000? What was man united thinking spending that much signing him? And why does it look like he completely forgot how to play football?

Let’s take a look and see just how bad Antony has really been.

  1. People need to go back and look at players that didn’t need all that crazy dribbling , body faint and pass … body faint shoot …. Just being all the time at the right place and score one touch ….

  2. when a proven decent player performs so-so after switching club,
when just nice player performs below expectation,
ALL RESPONSIBILITIES GOES FOR THE CLUB MANAGER FIRST

  3. The problem with modern day football is that the transfer market is priced in via talent and upside rather than proven talent. Potential isn't a good business measure because there are way too many factors in football. That's why you see so many busts, so much wasted money, and an absurdly inflated market not set in reality. Every team is throwing close to 100m for any sniff of young talent thinking they'll pick up the next messi or ronaldo. Antony is the shining example of that right now.

  4. well he will learn the hard way to adapt his way of play to suit the premier league yes Ajax is a well known team and legends played there but Ajax is not at the same level as Premier league teams and he's young so he will try to do flashy moves better than playing he will grow up and learn, exactly like Nemar was but tbh Nemar was better but mind set they are the same flashy stuff in early 20s

  5. Anthony has as a little to do with the height of his transfer sum as you or me. I dont hear you blaming yourself (or me) so stop blaming Anthony for this,( unless ofcourse it is your opinion that he should have obstructed the transfer to MU after they had an agreement with Ajax, because the teansfersum was too high. (I am sure everyone would have understood and appreciated that 😉
Anthony has often shown that he is a talented player and it is also clear that he is currently underperforming. I am not aware that this is related to physical problems, so it has to be a mental problem. Mental and psychological guidance and coaching is at a rediculous low level in professional football, including MU. So of you want to blame anybody for Anthony's problems, blame MU, both because of the insane transfer fee as well as the lack of mental coaching afterward.

  6. Honestly I see him doing better in leagues like la liga. The prem is just filled with to much quality in defenders and he doesn’t have the strength to shrug them off

  7. You could say that his stop-start style of play takes 2 opposition players out of the game but that would be reliant on him actually getting past them rather than just losing the ball

  8. Antony is the best example to compare with Enzo Fernandez: they have the skills for sure, but… It's not the same to play in a league such as Netherlands or Portugal, which are way less physical and in where "the south American style" is way less effective (and specially if you can only handle one leg), turns out WAY more complex. Antony's case is way worse than Enzo's as he already had time to adapt his style. Yet… I still see someone who's a good player for a league such as Netherlands or even Brazil, but not Premier.

  9. hot take that may sound insane but hear me out, antony (and at large almost no one but thats a conversation that has been discussed by basketball youtuber Jonny Arnett and i agree with his take) isnt overrated at all. we are all away of his MAJOR shortcomings. The fact he has no end product, a short temper, a big ego, and is insanely prone to just right stick spam and then lose the ball. We all know this. So how is he overrated? He is overpaid but that isnt overrated. his transfer price was too high but that isnt overrated either thats over paid for. The people on twitter who say he is the goat or outlandish shit like that are clearly interaction baiting and dont believe it. I think the only time a player is overrated is pure literal ignorance. anything else i dont really think is possible bc if we know players short comings, how can we overrated them.

just to clarify, antony is shit. theres no way to mince words. hes god awful. this is just something i think and wanted to say

  10. I’m a united fan and I don’t think Antony is absolutely awful ( even though he is ) . I think he needs way better coaching. Way better. And he was never worth 100m , 45m at a stretch , last season we saw moments of brilliance from him and he was able to string together some good performances. He needs to be coached better in fundamentals so he can progress. Having said that I don’t know if he’ll ever be good enough
