Despite a strong start to the season, Mikel Arteta is still struggling to find his best midfield – and with Thomas Partey barely featuring thanks to consistent injuries – it’s looking more and more likely that Arsenal need reinforcements in the centre of the park. Recently we’ve made videos that have taken a look at various midfielders that Arsenal should sign but one player we haven’t mentioned is the latest to get seriously linked to the Gunners – Amadou Onana. In this video, Statman Dave analysis his strengths and weaknesses before explaining his thoughts on whether or not Arsenal should sign the Belgian international…

  1. The constant linking of Luiz to Arsenal fails to acknowledge that a) our owners are very rich and very ambitious, b) we are pushing hard for CL our selves, and c) he signed a new improved contract at a time when Arsenal were interested and we were managed by the sinking ship Gerrard – i.e. he has committed to the owners project, and done so at a time when things were not as rosy as they are now…

  2. Newcastle fan here we’re linked to him think he needs to move to a club like newcastle villa west ham etc over arsenal right now hes still young so would develop better by starting more for one of those teams

  3. I think we as fans have big issues judging players. We look too much at how players currently play, rather than what they are capable of doing. I understand why, it is a much easier analysis to make, and often times these things line up, but not always. Everton is not Arsenal, they play completely different and his possession stats are effected by this. He will play differently and develop different at Arsenal. He has all the elements to become elite in the role he will play at Arsenal. But the most important thing Amadou adds is versatility, he is a profile that Arsenal simply do not have in midfield and increases Artetas options, Arteta does not want or need a like for like Xhaka replacement, he wants varying options for that role depending on the opposition, and Onana allows Rice to move up and be another option there.

  4. He is too similar to Rice. Man United should buy him. They need a proper young CDM with pace to replace Caesimiro. Arsenal should've bought Milinkovic Savic to replace Xhaka imo.

  5. More videos Dave!! Your work is great but too much on Man United and Arsenal. It could be good if you do transfers match within the big 6 at least:)
    Cheers
