Juventus advanced to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia this season after crushing Salernitana 6-1 in the round of 16. This victory seemed to show that the Bianconeri were not only good at winning narrowly.
As is known, the nickname ‘Corto Muso’ is closely associated with Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus this season. This term refers to the series of narrow wins achieved by Dusan Vlahovic et al.
Until the 18th week of Serie A, nine of the 13 wins achieved by Juventus were achieved by a difference of one goal, six of them 1-0 and the other three 2-1. This achievement brings them to second place in the standings with 43 points.
However, when facing Salernitana at the Allianz Stadium, Friday (5 January 2024) early in the morning West Indonesian Time, the ‘Corto Muso’ stamp seemed to have disappeared. There is no team that looks for a goal and then defends while occasionally attacking back.
Instead, what is visible is a line of enthusiastic young people who are ready to bombard their opponents. Six of the 12 shots on goal were goals, shared equally by Fabio Miretti, Andrea Cambiaso, Daniele Rugani, Kenan Yildiz, Timothy Weah, as well as Dylan Bronn’s own goal.
Allegri was also impressed with the results his team obtained. “Amazing response from everyone, we have improved. Tonight, we played better, ran forward a lot, created a lot of passes. We have to be clearer on the last pass, increase the percentage of accurate passes,” explained Allegri after the match to Sport Mediaset .
Juventus will face Salernitana again this weekend, but now it is their turn to visit Salerno in the 19th week of Serie A.
