Wow! Shame on people for bringing in politics from over 70 years ago. Really? Ignorance at its finest. In any sport, there are 2 types of coaches. A coach who locks in on a strategy and chooses players to fit that predetermined strategy, or a coach who selects the top talent and creates a strategy around that talent. The 2006 tandem of Klinsmann and Löw was perfect because Klinsmann is excellent at talent and Löw is a tactician. 2014 was the perfect storm for Germany. Talent matched tactics. 2018 is a different story. I respect Löw, but he is a tactician and his player selection needs to be questioned.

You have to take a player like that even as an option. He scored some very important goals for Man City in 17/18 and he has pace which Germany seriously lacked in the 2018 World Cup and were even outpaced by an ageing Mexico team.
