Steven Gerrard is facing pressure to improve results at Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League after a two-month winless streak. The former England captain started his tenure at the club with a series of victories, but they have since slipped down the table and have not won a game since October 28. While there have been no immediate signs of Gerrard being sacked, it is understood that the club is unhappy with the recent run of results. Gerrard has been given signings such as Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Demarai Gray, and Moussa Dembélé to help improve the team’s performance, but they currently sit in eighth place in the league and were knocked out of the King Cup. Gerrard has called for a lot of changes to be made to the team in the upcoming transfer window to make them more competitive. Al-Ettifaq have had a history of short-lived managerial appointments, with their last three managers lasting less than a year. Their next match is scheduled for February 15th after the conclusion of the Asia Cup. Gerrard’s assistant coach, Ian Foster, is also set to leave the club to become the new manager of Plymouth.
