Edinson Cavani couldn’t control his fury after Uruguay’s early exit from the competition.
Just after game, as the players headed down the tunnel, the forward furiously punched the VAR monitor, forcing it to fall to the floor.

Cavani’s enraged reaction was a continuation of Uruguay’s boorish behavior after the final whistle, when players and coaching staff immediately approached the referee, challenging game decisions.

The Celeste’s win over Ghana was insufficient as late drama in Group H’s second encounter saw South Korea overcome Portugal 2-1 and advance to the last 16 based on goals scored.
Meanwhile, Uruguay is making certain that they do not leave quietly.

  1. Cavani represents all of us football fans on the VAR experience as he smashes it to the ground on his way to the locke room. Uruguay a small country with the population of Athens Greece was robbed of it's World cup aspirations by the fellows in the VAR booth in succesive games.

The referee was awful with his penalty calls (and lack thereof), using VAR to call a penalty for Ghana and then not going to VAR twice for Uruguay on worse infractions. In it's previous game against Portugal a late penalty that went against the roolbook was called, when VAR made the referee go to the booth to look for a handball call. The ref called an unjust penalty and the resulting goal came back to haunt Uruguay today.

Whoever controls the VAR booth controls the outcomes and a small poor country like Uruguay is obviously not going to get that pivot. That FIFA decided to award the World Cup to a place like Qatar in the first place, tells you all you need to know about that outfit….

  2. Uruguay must ban from football to educate them how to handle their anger. Otherwise they will spoil all teams as it is normal. Biting somebody's ear, punching VAR monitor and abusing referees will be a normal habit for other players.

  3. We Brazilians are used to these reactions from Uruguayans and Argentinians. Every time they lose a match, they don't accept the results and start verbal and even physical aggression! That always happens; it's part of their "culture"! Unfortunate!!

  4. People in this comment section are salty af, crazy how some "professional" footballers behave more like kids than kids themselves actually do lmfao. Good riddance trash :)))

  5. Watching teams like Uruguay and Argentina getting knocked out of tournaments is so satisfying, can't stand these arrogant colonising Europeans lol
