Thiago Silva was even angry after Chelsea’s win at home to Luton Town. What’s going on?
Chelsea face Luton at Kenilworth Road, Saturday (30 December 2023) evening West Indonesia Time. Chelsea appeared strong from the start to lead 2-0 in the first half through goals from Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke.
Chelsea added a third goal in the 70th minute through Palmer’s brace. However, Luton made people nervous when they scored two goals in the final 10 minutes even though Chelsea ultimately still won 3-2.
This victory certainly relieved the Chelsea players who managed to close the year with good results. But apparently not Thiago Silva, who actually showed his face after the match.
Silva even pushed the camera which was showing him in the middle of the field. The Brazilian defender may have been annoyed with his teammates who lost concentration at crucial times so that Luton was able to break through Dorde Petrovic’s goal twice.
After the match, manager Mauricio Pochettino understood Silva’s frustration. Because Silva doesn’t want his team to lose three points because of their own mistakes.
Moreover, his status as a senior defender on the team means he must be a role model for his colleagues.
“Incredible, he is 39 years old and still plays like he is 20 years old. He brings experience to this team and he is doing very well,” said Pochettino on BBC Sport.
“This is a very, very important week. We can start next season positively and it’s nice to finish 2023 in this way.”
