Amadou is a big lad. That ball is going high up into the park end. It's a joke. Where are the morons who created this crazy stupid new ruling? Also what happened to a yellow card for one of the players hounding the ref to get a decision go their way? all these little rules that get thrown in at the beginning of different seasons. The refs don't stick to them rigidly throughout every match. The time wasting crackdown that seemed to be no more than a method to punish Arsenal at the beginning of this season is in very sporadic use. I will not be surprised if we see a team get away with a similar hanball to Onana's before the new year bells ring in. If it occurs will that referee be sanctioned for his error? I doubt it.
I wonder what Crook had to say after the FA Cup Grealish handball.. Surely he would've had a similar rant?? No?? Hmmm interesting..
moving hand to your face = unnatural position which is a penalty always will, there is no issue with the law only a problem with people not understanding it. For those who have been refs law is pretty easy on this point, its a 100 percent correct penalty, and cant see the problem at all.
Listen up if you dnt understand the football laws well go take a refs course, you know you can learn the theory with a wee bit effort and its not that hard rules are actually pretty straight forward once you understand them.
Please stop referring to footballers by their full name every single time you bring them up in the conversation.. It's wierd and cringe
😊what a lot of people don't remember is Suarez's deliberate handball on the line against Senegal in the world cup 2010. That's where this all started
Blimey you should be a barrister with that explanation. That should never have been given. It wouldn't of been ten years ago when the game was far easier to watch.
The handball rule USED to be very simple. It was always about whether or not a player DELIBERATELY handled the ball, REGARDLESS of where the player's hand is positioned. It's the fans, players, pundits, journalists, panelists and so-called "experts" always using some platform or another to scrutinize and make noise about every little instance that a ball struck a player's hand that has us where we are now.
Type in Rodri handball v Everton. By the way Everton have not had one penalty awarded this season, just before Wolves game .The only club in the prem not to have had at least one. SAYS IT ALL REALLY
This isn’t even that controversial for me… that’s a clear pen… if your hand is raised and outside of your body it should be a pen regardless of intention… the true controversial decisions was how odergaard got away with a stone cold pen against Liverpool
Lol finger spin on the ball at Anfield.
City get away with so many decisions. The players sorround the ref and no charges are taken against them. If united or arsenal players do that, a fine is paid after the game.
Everything everyone says is subjective. Make it objective. If it hits your hand …. It’s handball …… sorted
I dont blame the refs i blame the stupid people changing the rules. For that penalty the ref if he wasnt going to give it straight away he should have gone to VAR to make sure or even VAR should have been allowed to tell the ref to look at the monitor and double check. The linesman is too far away to tell the ref whether its a deliberate handball or not.
It IS the ref's fault …. if he awards a penalty AFTER he's surrounded by manic players insisting it's a pen, when his original decision was no penalty. Definitely a game changer, definitely not a penalty and I'm a Liverpool fan.
Any law that is unjust is no law at all. Officials are hiding behind this “law of the game” and impacting the game with their incompetence. Those moments shift the title race in favor of one team especially with the inconsistency
I don’t get the issue with the handball, onana’s thrown himself at the ball and it’s hit his hand in the process while it’s in an unnatural position. case closed imo.
What is Crooky on about, he's got his hand raised to make his body bigger and blocks a shot in the box, how is that not a penalty.
Handball shouldn't have to be deleberate. If a part of you that isnt allowed to be used to play the ball changes the direction of the ball then it should be a free kick…
What are you clowns on about , it was a blatant handball , Ohana lifted his arm up and curled his hand to the shape of the ball it couldn’t be more clear , it’s just because it was against city , you guys are completely deluded and let your hatred of city cloud your judgement 🤷🏽♂️😂
He blocked a shot w his arm it’s a penalty 😂😂
They are applying the laws as written "sometimes" and sometimes they use their own interpretation thats the problem. Every team gets these awful calls except some far less than others
If you lunge with your arms by your side you're gonna hurt yourself. So if onana stuck his arm out to the right for balance would that by a penalty too? I'm just wondering when it's OK for his body to be bigger if that's the rule.
I think i've been saying this for years, but why does VAR have to intervene? Why can't the referee just say 'hold on, stop play, I didn't get a clear look so let me look at the monitor and make a decision'? The power needs to be given back to the referees so they control VAR, not the other way around.
Odengaard is basketball player, while this Onana's brother was not. End.
I think what makes this more frustrating is the fact that some clubs get these decisions in their favour more than others.
Everton are yet to be given a penalty this season, yet have the most penalties given against them this season.
Seem an odd fact 🤔
V.a.r and refs just deciding when to give it/when not… 100% if that was same scenario in man city box it wouldn't of been given….
Most of the time penalty equals goal and had a shot on goal through a crowd hitting someone at close range shouldn't equal free goal.
Killing the game, I heard ludicrous comment after saying they are trying to stop defenders diving in to block shots???
Defending is an art as much as scoring goals, yet they are trying to stop players doing everything they can to stop a goal. Only should be a penalty if it's a cynical foul or deliberate foul or use of hand in a motion to stop the ball. Blocking shots isn't a foul.
Man utd not given a penalty against Tottenham for exactly the same, shot on goal hits the hand.
V.a.r against Everton and straight away penalty for man city.
Deliberate or not if thats in the opposite box its not given cus of the hierarchy called fraud in football 😡
Can’t make it an issue on deliberateness. Too subjective. Also how many players actually really deliberately handball in the box?
4:05 that's simply not true. Some 6-7 years ago, there had been 2 or 3 penalties awarded against Chelsea in the first few rounds for unintentional handballs (hit from close range). Cahill and Luiz then finished the season with their arms behind their backs when blocking shots or passes in their own box.
Today's rules Maradona had of God goal would have been ruled as a goal. He was saving his head!!😂😂😮
The City player’s knew the law and called for the pen?? What is this muppet talking about?
And why is he so quick to blame the city players? All players from all clubs throw their hands in the air for the refs attention, whether it’s handball for a pen, or handball for a free kick? Man City live in this bozo’s head rent free
0:42 the voice crack 😂😂😂
Man city always come away wt everything people watch that handball no way can that be handball the ref is blowing into there favour watch soccer people plz dt go to the stadiums protest chase the refs to saudi leaque they does not wt city to loose the leaque people plz open your eyes wt is gng on
This decision felt odd at the time. I fully expected the referee to be called to the monitor. He only gave the penalty because of the linesman. So VAR went with the on-field decision which meant the on-field monitor was not used by the referee. And ironically if the linesman hadn't flagged then VAR would have had to ask the referee to look at the monitor if they believed it to be a penalty.
And therein lies another problem: has anyone noticed that whenever a referee is asked to view the monitor he ALWAYS changes his mind..? This suggests to me that VAR is in charge, NOT the referee. And that is simply wrong.
So it still would have been a penalty!
As a city fan that's not hand ball in this life or the next football is becoming a joke scrap var now.
Can’t blame their players coz when they kick up a fuss they get their own way so it’s not all on them coz the referee fraternity has to be strong enough to tell em to pop off! We didn’t lose the game coz of that decision in the end we gifted them 2 goals an a assist in the pen from the ref! UTFT COYB
They were amazing in that spell after the first goal an even when we tried to respond they can do things we don’t have the ability to. But our lads have been boss all season and we are better than our position shows UTFT COYB SEAN DYCHE
This shouldnt be given as a handball but i absolutely guarantee if this had been united in a similar position, crook would have found a way to defend it and say its a penalty
Under the laws of the game it is a penalty ffs we apl agree it isnt a pen on our eyes but our eyes dont make the rules.
In any given situation like this, watch the referee’s instinctive reaction. Because 9 times out of 10 it will be the correct decision.
We can’t keep passing these situations on to a committee who then outsource it to a jury.
Lets be honest here…once city equalised…it was over for Everton..pen or no pen
The main issue here is that city won. Man utd got the same penalty in an FA cup final against city, no one said sh*t about it.
Refs need to start giving yellow cards to players who surround them, the only person that should be able to talk to the ref is the captain. Then the city captain can say to the ref if you do t give it you do t get your bonuses. 😂
Something like 75% of penalties get converted, might be wrong, and to my mind these crazy handball decisions are ruining games. If there's a slight doubt it shouldn't be given, otherwise you might as well just whack the ball anywhere in the box and hope it hits a bloody armpit or grazes an elbow.
Take it back to basics. All handballing should be a penalty if you make yourself bigger deliberate or not. If you can’t deal with play fotball that keeps yourself out of the penalty area.
Crook is a united fan…stonewall penalty!!!
It's either Deliberate Handball or Ball To Hamd .
