Virgil Van Dijk Mentions That A 20-Year-Old At Liverpool Is ‘Outstandingly Well’

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has praised Jarell Quansah following a breakthrough year for the 20-year-old. According to The Athletic, the Reds’ star informed reporters that Quansah has handled every challenge exceptionally well. Van Dijk also mentioned that his teammate is still developing as a player and possesses the right mindset for a successful career. Quansah has ascended through Liverpool’s ranks over the past 15 years, excelling for the Under-21s before making his debut this season. Quansah also made a positive impression on loan at Bristol Rovers last season and secured the Under-19 European Championship with England in 2021.
“Jarell has handled every challenge exceptionally well so far,” Van Dijk stated. “He’s only 20 years old, still in the process of growth. As a center-half, you improve with experience. I never reached this level consistently at such a young age, similar to Ibou (Konate) and Jarell. He just needs to continue. There will be tough times, that’s completely normal, but it’s about how you cope with them. He’s a good lad. Mentally, he’s in the right mindset, which is a positive start. I’ll support him whenever he needs it. He’ll be just fine.”
