I see his point and I think it makes some sense. It doesn't make any sense to go there and then put on this show of protest. In my opinion, the armband thing is just a petty show. For me, the World Cup never should have been in Qatar in the first place. If you really wanted to make a stand for gay people, then you could have chosen not to go to that country. It seems silly to have the cup there but then put on this dumb show with the armbands. The real brave thing to do would simply be not awarding the World Cup to this country if they are engaging in oppression and human rights abuses.
