  1. this is how close Costa Rica out of all countries, was to the semifinal of the world cup. the US have not been there since 1930 and the Mexicans have not sniffed it at all

  2. Glad Tim Krul finally getting some recognition. I remember 2014 WC Netherlands vs Costa Rica, game went to penalties but in the 118 or something minute, Van Gaal subs on Krul for Cillessen just because Krul had saved 2 penalties in his career and Cillessen hadn’t saved any. Krul went on to guess the right way all 4 shots and saved 2 of them. Louis Van Gaal looked like a genius because of that move

  3. I don't understand why the Costa Rican squad got on their knees. It signals desperation. Stand tall. Its not over untill its over. You may have lost the shootout simply due to having the wrong attitude.

  4. Bryan Ruiz' penalty should've been retaken. At the moment Ruiz makes contact with the ball both of Krul's feet are fully off the line. Looks like it's also the case on the last penalty.
