City were forced to settle for a point after a stoppage time equaliser against Swansea City at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
City fell behind early on after Liam Walsh gave the Swans the lead, but that would last a matter of minutes before Wright drew the Sky Blues level with a stunning strike.
Then, midway through the second half, Simms converted Wright’s header, but Liam Cullen woul convert a free-kick deep into injury time to snatch a point for the visitors.
City found themselves behind after five minutes on the clock when former Sky Blues midfielder Liam Walsh picked up on a loose ball in the box and slotted the ball past Brad Collins, with the game’s first shot on target.
However, they wouldn’t be behind for long as minutes later Kasey Palmer picked out the run of Haji Wright and he beat his man before smashing the ball past Carl Rushworth to draw the game level.
Palmer then went close to finding the back of the net himself when he found space on the edge of area and forced Rushworth into a fine stop over his bar.
Kasey was unable to keep his next attempt down, as he struck a free-kick from 25-yards out over Rushworth’s bar.
With the last attempt before the break, Walsh hit a free-kick from range, but Brad Collins was able to push it behind and keep the scores level heading into half-time.
HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 1-1 Swansea City
The visitors could have been back in front following the restart, but Yannick Bolasie was unable to divert Sam Parker’s ball into the box past Collins.
City had chances themselves at the other end after a succession of corners, but Sakamoto saw his shot blocked and then Wright headed over at the near post.
However, Haji’s next header would provide the opening for the Sky Blues to take the lead for the first time in the game as he was on the end of Sakamoto’s ball again and Ellis Simms poked in on the line to score his first goal at the CBS Arena.
That lead was almost doubled minutes later when Callum O’Hare reacted quickly to force Rushworth into a stunning stop from close range.
The Swans would however snatch a point in the 93rd minute when Liam Cullen converted a free-kick.

Been waiting for your video all day 🎉🎉
That one might come back to bite us …. that two extra points would have put is in 8th with goal difference and kept Cov in contention 🤨 …. That Middlesborough match on monday could be tough un but i think Cov can play with anyone at the moment so 🤞🤞 anyhoo thanks for recording the match … Happy new year 🎉PUSB
Karma for all those late goals we scored last season..onward and upward we go.
Very unlucky to bottle it in the last minute. Swansea are a poor side
Not good enough settling with the 1 goal lead
Need to create more and put away chances more often, can’t just rely on our defence to keep us in the game every week. We have to be putting teams like Swansea away comfortably, not losing 2 points with 2 minutes to go.
Sometimes you can get away with lapses in concentration, missed chances, or silly decision making in the Championship, sometimes you can't. Last night was the latter!

Good blog, but your first goal was miles off. Ref gave you everything too, we were getting innocuous bookings especially in the first half, whereas your players got away with lots. Credit to your fans though, I was in the away end in the upper corner where there was a great atmosphere. Good luck for the rest of the season sky blues 👍
How did it take you so long to eat a pie
Not good enough giving away silly free kicks late on in the game.
Godden should never play for us again
Why didn’t he play Simms from the start?
Been coming that could have happened against Sheffield Wednesday but they didn’t take the chances . Feels like 2 points dropped but still a great return from the past 2 months on we go to bourough win there and all is well again .
Happy New Year Alex
Missed chances poor defending is our downfall all season
