Despite a battling second half display from Burnley after trailing at the break, the Clarets suffered a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Boxing Day evening clash.
Darwin Nunez struck home the opener with six minutes played at Turf Moor before Diogo Jota added a second in stoppage time of the second half.
Although the Clarets created plenty of opportunities in the second half and enjoyed impressive spells of possession, the hosts just couldn’t quite find the back of the net in a frustrating night for Vincent Kompany’s side before
Kompany made one change from the side that beat Fulham on the weekend as Mike Tresor was named in the starting XI replacing Jacob Bruun Larsen.
