Canadian men’s national soccer team head coach John Herdman sat down with TSN Senior Correspondent Rick Westhead to talk about how he establishes trust with the players and staff he works with, how much sacrifice it has taken to get to this point, the mental and emotional toll it took to qualify during a global pandemic and the massive opportunity standing in front of his team.

  1. The commitment, the sacrifice and the belief these players had towards a Canadian team that meant nothing to TSN… until now. I want to see KJ, Andi, Oliver and Wheels. For Canadian soccer fans, they were/are a big part of the "belief" story of Team Canada's hard fought ascent to where they are now. And to not see them on this 2nd worldcup ride adds to the 😠. No offense to the fine TSN crew.
    🇨🇦 Go Team Canada!! 🇨🇦

  2. I am so glad Herdman came to the picture at the same time we started getting some real Canadian talent, the best match possible. I just hope he won't have to field Cavallini!!! This guy does not finish one match without getting a yellow or a red card. Part of it is selfishness & the other part is the brains.
Laryea is also better than Johnston, if he only keeps his mouth shut.

  3. If you havent seen his speech on TedTalk, I highly recommend it. It was when Joohn was still head voach of the Womens National Team and they has just won the bronze in the Olympics. This tourny, no matter how contraversial because of the host nation Qatar, will allow the Canadian pride in our national teams and in each other to shine. Where politics and prejudices will be set aside to celebrate being Canadian and I for one am stoked. No pressure boys, your fellow Canadians are already uber proud of you ni matter what the outcome. Have fun and GO GET IT!
