  1. that clip of messi watching montiel's penalty… stone-faced, refusing to wonder or dream optimistically… for it was stolen so many times, why couldn't it be stolen again? and all of that vanishing the moment it goes in… replaced with smiles, tears, and unbelievable happiness. the greatest game in football history. a perfect fit for its best ever player.

  2. Fantastic video James, you put our collective emotions into words perfectly. Guillem was great with his philosophical insight. Messi indeed was a gift from the heavens to football fans across the world. Fairytales in sport are not meant to be but just this once fate made an exception.

  3. This video perfectly sums up the 2022 world cup yes it had problems and sub plots but realistically the focus only ever was on one man and his nation who would fight tooth and nail to ensure his success because every other team there was just a team brought together by their nation where as the Argentina team was a family brought together by the magic of one little man

  4. Must admit, as an Englishman I wanted Argentina to win the World Cup over any other team for Lionel Messi. He is one of if not my favourite player of all time, but I have still not seen him play live. Hopefully I will go to Miami or Argentina next year

  5. Emiliano Martinez. Literally single handedly carried Argentina at times to their Copa America and World Cup. None of Argentina’s keepers in recent history would’ve been able to do what he did. He’s been the true difference

  6. I have to give you credit for the great video. I do watch other content by you and always thoroughly enjoy your presentation and perspectives. Somehow I've garnered much hate for claiming they deserved to lose vs. Netherlands. Anyway I do enjoy your content. Keep up the excellent work

  7. 🐐greatest most complete player of all time….what. fairytale ending to the most insane football story😮..hope it goes on for few more year's 🙏…. amazing video must say .great job👍👍

  8. The section on the duality between Messi's Catalan side and Argentinian side genuinely made me giddy as to how brilliant it was. Both amazing research and analysis Jim 🔥

  9. What's amazing about the Croatia game is that Argentina beat the 2nd place finishers of the previous tournament in the semi finals (the second last game of the tournament) and who also happened to have had a secondary hand in their previous humiliating exit by forcong them to play the eventual champions France. They also did it with the exact same humiliating scoreline that croatia humiliated them with (3-0) in the last tournament.

With France once again meeting Argentina as now the final obstacle to winning it all this time around, it felt like Argentina fighting a big boss and it's no. 2 from Argentina's POV. In the first round they hot destroyed, but in the second, Argentina got it's revenge in possibly the most poetic and satisfying manner possible.

  11. As an Aussie, it was so cool to see us take Argentina right to the death, almost equalising through young Garang Kuol. Emi Martinez, not for the first time in the tournament, came to the rescue. That game was watched by millions in a country where “soccer” isn’t our national sport (probably lies behind Aussie rules, cricket and rugby). That game was shown on mega screens in every major city at what was about 4am in the morning. Thousands upon thousands attended. Truly what sport is about ❤️

  12. This must be the most sincere love letter ever written to Messi. Long live the Goat 🐐. Thank you, James! Thank you, Guillem Balague. Thank you, Messi, for giving such joy. I had no idea how tense reliving that Final would make me… Wow, we have been privileged to witness to such a beautiful 😍 moment of history. Viva Messi, Viva Argentina 🇦🇷.
