Please dont believe this. That wasnt a secret weapon, it wasnt a special defensive move, it was a pedestrian attempt at avoiding contact in a boxing match that was fueled by fear. As a coach ive trained countless civilians and normal ppl. They all resort to that when they no longer want to engage. A skilled boxer would simply step around an opponent turning their back and use uppercuts. Ryan has no solid foundation to withstand punishment when he does that. I cant stress this enough- dont do what ryan did. Its incorrect, cringe, and unsafe.

One thing I noticed watching the replay in his video was Ryan lifting his lead leg when first initiating the turn. Time him with a left hook or uppercut and he's getting put on his ass.
This was a terrible attempt at the philly shell and should have been called by the ref. Duarte shouldn't have been the one getting warnings.
