Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer is stable in hospital after suffering a heart attack during his side’s EPL match against Bournemouth.

The match was abandoned in the 65th minute after the 29-year-old Hatters skipper suffered a cardiac arrest near the halfway line as play raged on between the two sides.

The game was stopped as the defender was attended to by paramedics and staff, with players from both sides sent to the dressing rooms and Lockyer receiving a standing ovation from both sets of fans at the Vitality stadium as he was stretchered away to an awaiting ambulance.

Luton later confirmed he had suffered a cardiac arrest but was responsive by the time he was taken off the field. The club said he was stable and undergoing further tests in hospital.
