Reports today have suggested that Nick Pope could miss the vast majority of, if not the entire, rest of the season. Would Newcastle look at goalkeeper options for January or a free transfer with David de Gea coming to Tyneside?

  1. Don't see the point in ramsdale as we are going to have to replace him again in future. He's no better than pope. If we are buying a new keep he has to be our future number1

  2. I don't think the January window is the right time to go a canny bit higher in the GK chart. Summer yes, but we neeeed a FW, RW and a CB more.
Yes, I've practically preached about and for a DM, but with what we have and returning from injury, think competition for Miggy swings that vote

  3. Bringing De Gea in would be a big disrespect to Dubs and karius who have been professional for us so far, i think they are capable covers

  4. For me the priority in January has to be attacking options, not another keeper.

Finishing the season with dubravka/karius is far less risk than waiting for another isak injury and potentially having to play months with no centre forward.

  5. We need a young keeper to understudy our more experienced keepers. Imagine getting a young Mileyesque keeper through the academy. The only thing is keepers seem to come into their own in the latter stages. Definitely a conundrum

  6. If this was closer to the summer transfer window i'd say go for Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, as a long term signing. I'd stick with Dubs for the time being and see how Pope is when he returns.

  7. I divvint think Arsenal would sell or loan Ramsdale to us and De Gea may have demands for a big signing on fee and what aboot his wage demands?

It's strange neebody has took him on?

  8. Bring him in… Better than what we have… Not gonna get his monster wages.. As no one has offered him it to date… Needed keeper b4 pope injury… 31 and 2nd op on shoulder… Could be the end for pope

  9. I never thought that there was much difference between Pope and Dubravka – sure I'm not a premier league coach but surely bringing in another first choice keeper would cost funds that can be allocated elsewhere?

  10. I live in Australia, near Canberra so I don’t see a huge amount of EPL matches other than Newcastle.
    Regarding goalkeepers:
I don’t think we need another keeper.
I’m more than happy with Martin Dubravka, Loris Karius and Mark Gillesspie.
I don’t like Ramsdale- he’s prone to bouts of madness on occasions, causing havoc in his defence. I admit he’s a great shot stopper.
David De Gea is still a quality keeper.
Doesn’t need to play for money, and I don’t think he’d fancy a short term stint at Newcastle, particularly as he’s recently married.
I think we’re actually fine, and whatever money is available, would be better spent on a striker.
