Everton shall not be moved.

Everton have won again and this time they took advantage of a short-handed and depleted Newcastle side by scoring 3 late goals in about 15 minutes, led by Dwight McNeil, and caused by some pitiful Kieran Trippier mistakes. Everton have now won already 6 games this season, only 2 less than the total amount from last season, and we’re not even halfway through the season yet. Everton are playing with heart, the fans are optimistic, and it will be interesting to see how the team progresses from here with Dyche leading them through.

Today we’ll be breaking down and reviewing the fifteenth fixture of Everton’s 2023/24 campaign against Newcastle, talking about my favourite players & moments, keys to the game, tactics, gameplan, and all my thoughts and takeaways, as well as where the improvement must be noticed ahead of Everton’s next Premier League fixture.

  1. Great to see McMessi getting on the scoresheet, and Harrison can be frustrating with his delivery sometimes but seems to deliver end product of some form almost every time he's on the pitch – which I'll take over the 'style-over-substance' Gordons, Grays, Iwobis, Walcotts of past years.
DCL not scoring I think is not an entirely bad thing at the moment, it's showing we're finding other ways and he is still having a great impact with his hold up play and presence – which is missed just as badly when he's not in. Glad to see big Beto get on, hopefully he can keep chipping in with goals and taking advantage of tired defences and deputise for DCL with a bit more confidence going forward.

  2. I also think Danjuma must have rubbed Dyche up the wrong way or really isn't his kind of player, the very early snippets I saw of him he looked threatening and direct but he doesn't seem to be anywhere near Dyche's first team at the moment.
