ESPN FC’s Dan Thomas sits down with Alejandro Moreno, Julien Laurens and Steve Nicol to react to reports that Napoli’s Dries Mertens is linked to a deal with Chelsea. Laurens says Chelsea’s interest in Mertens could open things up for Olivier Giroud to leave Stamford Bridge. Nicol adds that Mertens will score goals for a Chelsea side that are struggling in that department.

  1. Mertens would be perfect!! My FIFA Ultimate Team is tired of using 93 Kane up front and Scream Aguero is just stupidly expensive. Mertens would be way better, not to mention cheaper. Make it happen, Lamps.

  2. Well Pulisic is injured at the moment and has contributed 6 goals and 6 assists in 23 apps so he's fine, Willian seems to be playing with confidence under Lampard compared to last season with Sarri and Pedro and Hudson-Odoi just don't seem to be doing enough grant it Hudson-Odoi just came back from injury and has shown flashes of what he can do, but Mertens is definitely the type of player Chelsea need at this moment to solidify top 4

  3. Willian is about the leave Chelsea after playing plenty of years for them & these guys are still pronouncing his name ' William ''! 😑😑

  4. Martens is like 32 yo. On a slower league, Serie A, or Bundelsliga for example, he still can be effective. In EPL, nope. CBs are way more quicker.

  5. I'm so confused why they're saying he plays in similar positions as the others when we clearly see him as a number 9 at napoli and bagging in goals with his "small" size. Dries Mertens is a true finisher.

  6. mertens scored 28 league goals as a converted cf and theyre saying he cant play in the middle. if mertens goes to chelsea hed be the best player on the team'
