When Manchester United signed Raphael Varane there was a lot of excitement. But the 4 time Champions League winner has failed to live up to expectations and a loss of physicality combined with lots of injuries has seen Varane become a shadow of the world cup winner. Even with his drop off, Varane is still one of Manchester United’s best defenders in and around the box but having missed more than a Premier League season’s worth of matches in his Old Trafford career, the Frenchman simply cannot be relied upon. So here’s 3 players Man Utd could target to replace Varane in the long term.

I can see United signing two centre backs in the next 2 windows. a right footer and a left footer. A right footer to start alongside of Martinez and a left footer to cover Martinez. Jean Clair-Todibo is the ideal player to put next to Lisandro Martinez. I can see them working extremely well together. My back up left centre back would be Alan Matturro off Genoa. Matturro is big, physical and technically really sound. He still has alot to learn so backing up Martinez would be ideal. Jean Clair-Todibo and Alan Matturro won't cost an arm and a leg and will give United fantastic depth
todibo, tapsoba and scalvini give me all 3. varane will leave and maguire and lindelof arent good enough. and if scalvini and tapsoba can play DM to thats also a bonus

Silva, Diomande, Scalvini, Yoro (and send on loan) for sure for that RCB. UTD will miss out on Silva, Diomande and Inacio if they don't move for them in Jan or early Summer.
Todibo is getting highly rated but wasn't his attitude pretty bad when he was at Barcelona. Attitude seems to be almost more important at United at the moment.
Keep Martinez and Varane sell Maguire and Lindelof bring Todibo,Bremer or Bastoni and a young understudy.
Dont rate Malen at all no better than Sancho. Swap Sancho for Cheisa at Juventus as they shown interest in Sancho and swap Rashford to Barca for Raphinha

Less transfers in January for United means that the players don't have to start trying to get used to the playstyle of another set of signings. The current routines can be strengthened instead. New signings can come in the summer and pre season can be used to establish routines with new players.

Our main problem is scoring. We are not taking chances. 1.2 goals a game is too low. Antony Sancho zero goals. Rashford Garnacho 2 goals. Is a problem. Hojlund zero goals in PL. We need at least 2 new strikers. Toney Barbosa not what we need. Mbappe unlikely. Muller too old. We should be lookinh into Osimhen or otherwise NicoWilliams soon on free. Maybe even Benzema on loan 6 months. Bardghji amazing talent.

The gap between the PL and other leagues has gotten so big, MOST high potential young players who look amazing in other leagues (because there are just too many shit teams to inflate their overall stats) tend to struggle in PL. It's really hard to trust unless they are well and truly established as good players.

I think Scalvini is my preferred replacement. He is versatile in that we can see him cover the CDM position as well. I think he can develop into a top tier defender. And if we can get Bastoni as well, although I know that is a reach, than we will be settled for years to come. These signings are dependent on the selling of Maguire and Varane. Sell to buy is how we attack this problem in the long run…

How about Sule? Not really starting at Dortmund right now. Experienced but still has a good 3 years in him. Might be an option for a decent price even this winter. Always felt he was under appreciated because he looks kind of weird at times.
