Pep Guardiola says John Stones could start against Aston Villa, but he won’t know if Jeremy Doku is available until after Tuesday afternoon’s training session.
City are definitely without suspended pair Rodrigo and Jack Grealish for the clash at Villa Park, meaning Stones may return after several weeks out.
“He was ready for the last game, and he’s ready now,” said Guardiola when asked about Stones potentially starting the game.
He also says Stones could play in the role Rodrigo normally fills but that he is looking at several possibilities against a Villa side who currently have a 100% home record in the Premier League this season.

of course Haaland missed some chances nowadays is a thing, but I think more to consider is the defense issue, we still create chances, we still scoring even if Haaland struggled…but as an old man says, defense is win you the title, so city needs to improve the defense asap, I mean look at that score 3:3, 4:4, my goodness there're a lot of goals conceided, and city needs to be more "smarter" at the moment, I really do think it's better to win 1:0 five times rather than 10:0 once and then going 2:2 or 3:3 on the next games

i dont understand why fans rarely mention Stones or praise him. For me, he is one of City soul beside KDB, Rodri, and Benardo. His duet with Rodri is solid. He is diligent. So unlucky this season he often got injury. C'mon Stones 💪🙏

Hope Pep will trust Philips this time Rodri is out and not played Kovacic like in the Arsenal game, Philips can do better with Stones than to see Kovacic and Stones paring. Ake, Dias and Akanji back three last season they were good together, Gvadiol and Walker bench, Foden in the middle, Alvarez is not performing well in the middle like he started he not comfortable there again.
