As a Manchester United supporter, I really hope Ten Hag has the backing of the club to make some serious changes. Remove the big names, the high salaries, the one dimensional fast sprinters. We need technically gifted players. Young & hungry talents who want to earn the badge. Make it competitive in the changing room and turn that into a fierce tenacity on the pitch.
I'm a lifelong Man United fan and if ten Hag gets the power and control that he needs to rebuild the club I've no doubt that he'll be a long term success. In saying that I have a lot of sympathy for Ajax players and fans. Anyone with a brain knew he'd leave eventually but Ajax fans knew for months that he was going to United and my guess (and correct me if I'm wrong any Ajax fans who read this) is that Ajax fans wanted it announced weeks ago to end speculation or to wait until the end of the season to have it be announced at the end of the season or at the very least when the league is wrapped up. But it's one of those things where once he became the guy to be the next United manager, the press weren't going to let it go.
I suspect that the decision was made to wait until after the cup final for Ajax and the Liverpool game (which the board knew United were likely to get battered in) to announce as a good PR move to take heat off the Liverpool game and to be respectful of Ajax but I think Ajax fans would have preferred clarity weeks ago instead of waiting.
Donny isn't all that. Man United should sell him and use the money from the sale to help them buy a better midfielder.
