I used to hate it when Scotlands' opening match at World Cup Finals were against the weakest team in the group. More often than not in those days, very little was known about them, they knew about us and what to expect. We'd beat them but not by enough goals and we'd go out by goal difference, even without losing a game!
I applied for 3 matches in the public ballot for tickets, Dusseldorf, Cologne and Gelsenkirchen in the second round of group matches, but was unsuccessful in all three. Turns out that one of them I'm missing is Scotland v Switzerland. Slightly gutted to be missing out but will make do with watching on telly. I'm hoping we can make it out of the group.

10 years ago. Id have gotten the absolute fear seeing we had Germany as our opening game. But now. The tables are different and id say we have on par teams at worst. Very exciting for both sets of fan's โค๐

I think the organisers will be happy its Germany v Scotland, the place will be bouncing for the first game. Better of in a group where we can beat each other.

As the son of an Aberdonian,now living in the USA and a US citizen,not a too bad draw,could be worse and the opening game is magic.
