That team could have thrived with seidou keita in the middle and the team wont miss a beat. Lets not forget he struggled under tata martino. Barca even had to sign rakitic to cover his mess and put in defensive shifts in the luis enrique era. Busi isnt the greatest defensive midfielder of our era. Only barca fans think he is
I have been a Barca fan for the last 30 years and never have i seen a player like Busquets for so many years, single handed, direct not only Barca's play, but the entire game. The man is a master footballer.
Busquets was so very lucky… He just needs to kick the ball away if it comes to him๐๐๐๐๐ and in the center of the field he will have to do some nudging so as to show his presence and in defense he will have to show some aggression. The rest is done by Puyol, Alves, Pique Iniesta, Xavi, Ronaldinho, Messy, Henry and some 15/16 others that I cant name… I know a certain Argentinian guy who win more trophy and a decent record better than the top 3 Balon d'or nominees๐๐๐๐ Like I say Sergio Busquets have to just kick the incoming ball away from him, maybe inside or outside the football ground๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Part of Busquets composed playing style comes from the fact that his next moves were already planned long before he received the ball. That's his genius. It was Johan Cruyff that said โyou play football with your head and your legs are there to help youโ Busquets embodies this belief.
I think Barcelona has had absolutely amazing players like Villa, Eto'o, Henry, Puyol, Dani Alves and so on. But those 4 in diamond shape bang in the middle of the pitch is why they were the team they were. Individually they all deserve a separate chapter, Iniesta might be the single most skilled player ever bringing the ball forward from midfield, Xavi never made a mistake and was a robot passer, Busquets knew exactly where to be every time and was in total relax in the most delicate part of the pitch; but together they just toyed with the other teams, they all had that same quality of being one step ahead of what the opponent was thinking all the time.
By admiring Busquets game so much that over the years Iโve introduced much of what he does in to my amateur football games. Although very affective and helps the team immensely you are definitely not as appreciated as other positions on the pitch. In fact the general rules of his play is what I deem as consistent perfection due to the roll I.e. holding ground, reading play, disguising passing, 1 to 2 touches, complete relaxation, immaculate first touches (body positioning) and guiding your team to name a few. The big problem is, it gets hideously boring IMO. Youโre not able to dribble, score goals or do last minute blocks/tackles. Only on very rare occasion can you use your actual other abilities that help make the game exciting. Thatโs the question I would love to ask him, does he feel the same way. Does he get bored of being consistently elegantly predictable to himself.
"Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is"- Johan Cruyff, I can't think of a better phrase to define Sergio Busquets genius.
This is the best example of why saying a player like Messi or Ronaldo is the best player. The best at what? It's a team sport. Messi wouldn't have been that amazing without his teammates and same with Ronaldo (and every other player). You can't say Messi is better than busquets because busquets was maybe the best in the world at his role – not assists, not goals and not saves.

kind of dislike barcelona as a club, but this dude is special
It's like when your mom stops cleaning… WHO THE HECK WAS DOING ALL THAT WORK??? Busquets was. now no-one is.
Let's respect Yaya please
Heโs almost like Xabi Alonso
Isn't obvious, Messi
Why move when you are already in the right place?
Copied thumbnail. Whereโs the originality there

Based on the title if you think thatโs impressive look at some of Real Madridโs bench players accolades lol
The answer is simple, messi and golden era of spain..he was still so good tho, one of the best itw
So this is the reason why my boy biscuits has abysmal pace in EAFC 24 ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ

Man was Best DM of all time without proper pace.
Imagine him having pace. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
With Busquets Gone, Barcelona's rate if play has reduced miserably, he was the last most important player we were left with
