Andre Onana has made the worst possible start to his Manchester United career.

After emerging as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers with Inter Milan last season, even starring in a Champions League final, Onana looked the ideal man to replace David De Gea between the sticks–the final piece in the puzzle for the Red Devils to mount a title challenge.

But three months in, he has proven to be just as error-prone as his predecessor, conceding 18 goals in 10 matches across all competitions. Even his distribution hasn’t been up to scratch either.

Here’s everything wrong with Andre Onana’s goalkeeping.

  1. I'm an inter fan and I can assure you that he's VERY overrated. Majority of inter fans think he was amazing at inter, but if you encounter a non biased inter fan, he'll always tell you he was trash. I'll tell you why. You had De Gea, amazing gk, only 32 years old, still very good, so you had high expectations, also because you paid him €55M.

We on the other hand had handanovic, who WAS an amazing gk, 39 years old, it was already 3 years that we needed a new gk but in italy no club has money (apart from juve), so who did we pick? A random guy from ajax, FREE transfer, stopped for a year due to doping, our expectations were very low.

He made a lot of mistakes at inter but since he was a free transfer and didn't play for a year, people always blamed the defence for conceding 1 shot on target the whole game, and he NEVER made a save. People talk about his clean sheets in the UCL, but for example vs milan in the semis, in 2 games we conceded only 1 shot on target…he was basically a spectator, people don't put things into perspective.

I never felt safe with onana as a keeper, he was barely better than a 39 years old handanovic, but people on social media always kept saying that he was good with his feet and that he had a strong personality. I couldn't care less, you're a GK and you need to save shots, you have no idea how many games we conceded only 1 shot on target and he never made a save. The only reason we were able to sell this overrated GK for that much, was because we reached a UCL final, otherwise he was going for less than €20M. The real deal was tottenham who got Vicario for only €20M from Empoli.
