On field decision was goal. Not clear and obvious which is what VAR is meant to challenge not minute details using obscure and minuscule technicalities. Disgraceful

I feel better about this after hearing the refs mic'd up. Needs to be done live though. But again, this was not a clear and obvious error from the onfield ref so VAR should not have been called into play.
Maguire attempted to play the ball and couldn’t get to it. The defender attempted to tackle Maguire. I don’t think Maguire act helps Garnacho get the ball as the defender can’t get to it even if Maguire was onside.
When you see the thought process, you realise they have no idea what they're doing and the whole system needs reworking.

I find it interesting how they're calling Maguire and Garnacho by name, but the Fulham player, Muniz, is just "number 19".. 🤣
The offside call is correct but the laws of the offside is the issue here. Offside is to stop unfair advantage, when it’s this close it’s not an unfair advantage, offside lines should be thick lines to give that bit off tolerance.

This is an example of how VAR is ruining the game. If they were all properly trained, it wouldn't have taken a minute for one official to recognise the Maguire "offside". There was no mention until the lady got involved. This would be much more understandable if Maguire had touched the ball. The defender should have done better in defending the cross but yet the attacking player is denied.

If you disallow every goal where a defender is marking someone offside, you'll probably have to disallow half of the goals from set pieces

So by the rules now all players that are offside when the ball is crossed or passed and doesn’t get touched by a single 1 of those players by their foot or even head but is scored by the player that’s onside at the far post is a no goal now how these officials and rules are disgracing the beautiful game we all love
I’m a man United fan I watched this game live and immediately thought Maguire was offside and impacting on the play. I just don’t know why it took the officials so long to come to the decision. Correct decision just took far too long to get there

This is wild. Would literally rule out thousands of previous goals if this is a subjective offside.
VAR handled that very well and having the referee talk it through what he sees was great.
